Full Review
I purchased an expensive Canon lens from Nobetaway.com.au. The item arrived in under 2 weeks and it was brand new, in a sealed Canon box. But, for those considering using Nobetaway, it's important you understand how this place operates and why they offer such good prices. Remember, you can only find free cheese in a mouse trap. So here's the good and the bad about Nobetaway.
The good:
- They do deliver :) - The prices are generally lower then you can find anywhere in Australia (online or offline).
The bad:
- Because items come from overseas, it takes longet to deliver.
- I'm not sure if this applies to all the items sold there but it certainly applied to the lens I bought. I didn't get Australian manufacturer's warranty, instead, it's a Nobetaway warranty. What that means is if anything goes wrong with my Canon lens, I cannot send it to Canon Australia for repair. I would have to send it back to Nobetaway and they would probably have to send it back to Hong Kong (that's where it came from). That can't be better or as good as sending it to your local Canon rep. This is to me the biggest risk and you have to be aware of that and accept it before ordering from Nobetaway.
- The communication is very poor. If you have sales questions, they get back to you almost instantly, but after you pay, they ignore you completely.

Please note: I cannot send it to Canon Australia for repair. I would have to send it back to Nobetaway and they would probably have to send it back to Hong Kong (that's where it came from). This comment is incorrect. As stated in our conditions, all servicing is carried out by the manufacturer service centre here in Perth. An early reviewer of our site ( Louise65 ) can attest to this as she had an issue and we paid to have the camera serviced by Canon here in Perth. ### The communication is very poor. If you have sales questions, they get back to you almost instantly, but after you pay, they ignore you completely. This is incorrect in this case as the customer asked several questions regarding warranty etc " after " he completed the order and all questions were answered.
We recognise that customers wish to advise others regarding our business and it is great that they have this medium to do so,,but we would like to set the record straight in regards to these two comments. One is simply an assumption not fact ( re overseas servicing ) and the other is not a reflection of the correspondence made after this order was placed.

Regarding the communication, what I said was 100% correct. I sent two emails after my order was paid for - both left without a response. Regarding warranty, all I wanted to say is that the warranty NoBetaWay provides is not the same as Australian Manufacturer's warranty. So if you buy a Canon camera and NoBetaWay goes bust, Canon Australia will not take responsibility for the broken item. Your choice. I chose to buy a lens and take the risk - there is nothing wrong with it, as long as you understand and accept it. Posted by: 14-Aug-2008
