Website says things are in stock when they are not.
Lies and more lies about promised delivery dates.
Useless "customer support"
3 week delay for refunds because they claim they have a daily limit of $1000 for refunds.

Date: 27 August 2008 - I have been waiting since July 1st, when I placed an order for a colour laser printer. They keep on pushing back the expected shipping date. Still waiting. Now they say the ETA will be 2nd October - 3 months after I placed the order.

My name is Corrina. I am a representative from ozdirect. The team at ozdirect takes a great deal of pride in our customer service. I will personally look into your order if you email your order id to orders@ozdirect.com and write att: Corrina in the subject line. I will do my best to get these issues resolved for you.

Please be aware that Ozdirect can only speedily deliver goods that are instock at our supplier's warehouse. Long eta's are usually caused by late delivery from the manufacturer (who ships to our supplier who then packs the goods and sends them to you). In such circumstances we offer the choice of reordering a similar product or the option of a refund. We are experiencing temporary delays in our area (due to our refund limit of $1000 - this limit is set by our merchant gateway). This is problem is effecting a number of our customers. We are working to improve our refund service so this won't be a problem in the future. If you email me, I will do my best to relieve your particular situation.

What a load of rubbish from Corrina.

I have tried phoning them ... phones ring out ... ALL their supposed Australia-wide numbers never answer.

I have tried emailing them ... ALL emails have been ignored.

I have tried their so-called on-line LIVE chat ... that SAYS the operator IS on-line ... IT NEVER IS ANSWERED

I lie ... it WAS answered ONCE ... but, when I questioned WHY an item that their site said WAS in stock would take 11 DAYS to be shipped ... I was told it was because they had a huge influx of orders ... and when I asked another question the live operator terminated the chat session.

So I sent a copy of the chat transcript to EVERY email address that I could find for them on their website expressing my frustration at their appalling customer service and asking for their CEO to contact me and guess what .... NO ANSWER YET AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 WEEKS.

I agree with other negative comments. I tried to buy a ASUS radio and it never arrived. They do not respond to emails and don't answer the phone. I am still trying to get my money back after they said my order was cancelled. A complete shambles of a company. I doubt if Corinna exists. I have sent several emails to ordres @ozdirect.com without reply. -

I ALSO agree with the comments posted above.. I purchased from them and paid. I have been waiting 3 weeks and I have not received anything. I managed to speak to support into 2 weeks of waiting and they said that they will get back to me.. I have even opened up a support ticket. Now I try calling them and all you GET is music and diversions.... They are not a reputable company - if this is the way they deal with their sales.. DO NOT BUY anything.. Corrina - or any support person - make me update this link - by chasing up my order/... My support ticket is #807280 - if you are able to get back to me that would be great - otherwise - I will send updates to this site - on a regular basis.....

Do NOT buy any thing from this company. It's only a matter of time before they go under. It's seems that I too have lost my money with them. Item was suppose to be in stock when I bought it , with a 3 day deliver time. What a load of crap! Still waiting! Ozdirect will not answer emails or phones. DO NOT BUY from Ozdirect. I have read so many entry's on the internet about this doggy seller that I wish I had read before I sent them my money.

ozdirect.com.au , ausbuy.com.au and ozdirect.com are all part of the OZdirect PTY LTD group. Surfing around looking for a good deal, I came across them, linked from ebay.com.au I believe. I was like "Yes, there aussie (seen the .com.au), then" Well, well, slow responses to emails, phone numbers that are always engaged (because every1 is complaining to em i bet, lol), I start a google on them. Looks to at this stage, that yeah, they have the gear instock, just maybe not here, down under, and have to source it in. You first start at .com.au, then soon get redirected to the parent .com page of which the AU stock is easily misunderstood (was for me). Anyways, All in all, I've found some really good reviews for them and some real stickers. Yes, BUYER BEWARE! Being redirected from the .com.AU site to the parent .com site, with very few and some might same misleading, stock listings, ("Sock* AU1" (1-5) >(new line)> "xx") seems a pretty anal way of doing business to me. I'll hold out for now, restock on the 6th, guess someone may have beat me to the first card I ordered

Corrina, Corrina - maybe you'll wave your magic wand and help me. Then again, that's what Charbel from Ozdirect said, after logging seven times before someone would answer me with their on-line help. As soon as I had enunciated my complaint, she said she would investigate it. FOUR minutes later she logged off lreaving me waiting - and I actually waited another ONE HOUR. No, I'm not that stupid, I just wondered. Anyway, I have emailed - no response (and I have tried three different variations of their email. I tried opening complaint tickets - HA! What a joke! - no response. I even tried phoning - Hhahahahah, another bad joke, just endless recorded music. So, having paid 11 days ago for an item that was going to be sent by Startrack within 24hrs - I have nothing. Well I do have something, I haver laid a complaint with the Victorian Department of Consumer Affairs, and I do have a weekly national radio program on the CBAA - I think this would make a wonderful topic! So Corrina, how about it? Like to do an interview? or will it be a one-way discourse?

Hi!!!

reading everybody's comments made me really nervous to place an order with Ozdirect however i took the risk and thought i would give them a chance. I ordered a multi function printer on the 2 feb and to my surprise received my order 6 Feb which is reasonable time. I also contacted them during the week of waiting for my order and received great customer service.
Will definately be buying more products from there website.

I ordered a drawing/graphics tablet over 2 weeks ago. I received confirmation by e-mail that they received my payment the same day I made the purchase. Since then I've left 3 e-mails, attempted to contact them by phone to no avail. I just get an automated message telling me that my call will be answered shortly, but after waiting 10 minutes I'm transferred to a 000 extension to then leave a voice message for someone to call me back. It's been 4 days since then, and I've received no reply - either by phone or e-mail. I do note their Australian office is in Martin Place, in Sydney's CBD, so perhaps a visit in person may help.

I agree with the comments above - DO NOT BUY FROM OZDIRECT

In 15 years of shopping online and using eBay I have not been disappointed... until now.

A Sony MP3 player was ordered and paid for via direct deposit on 4th Feb 2009
The ozdirect site stated that payment had been received and the order was "in progress"
It is now 2nd March 2009 - several emails have been sent.
An "inquiry ticket" was opened - but has never been answered
The online support is offline (and anything but supportive)
The phones all ring out and are not answered.
And the order has not arrived.

I believe that I have lost my money and my next option is to threaten them with the small claims court.

I regretted not reading this page before ordering from OzDirect and since I was getting to same non-responsive customer service I thought I had also done my dough.
I kept opening those ridiculous tickets until I got the message that said I could open no more.... Then low and behold my hard drive arrived.
It took three weeks but given the experience of others here, I did well.
I post this not for Oz Direct, it seems they should actually go to the wall, but for those here who have placed orders, don't give up, just push as hard as their system allows. Email oders@ozdirect and keep hassling.

I order and pay for a SAMSUNG 32' HD tv on 26/11/2008. On 22/12/2008 I cancel the order because they can give me a delivery date.
They offer me a voucher which I don't accept. They sent me an email saying they going to refund me my money in 2-3 weeks because they were
very busy. After 3 weeks I contact Consumers Affairs Commission and they took over.Today 23/3/2009 my case still going on.-

I placed two orders with this company. The first order was nearly 3 weeks ago and the second is coming up to 2 weeks - the first one my girlfriend ordered and the second one was me we only saw these posts after I had placed the second order and then we realized it was the same company we had ordered from. So $840 later we still have no orders. I have been able to speak to people however for the past 2 days it's just hold music and their email responses contain no info at all. I lodged a complaint with the ACCC this morning and spoke with NSW office of Fair Trading, I have given them a deadline to respond. I cannot believe they are still allowed to operate as a business. Susan, Mark and all of the other Oz Direct staff I have spoken with the company you work for is a sham. Ras-X we are in the same industry I feel this has ACA or Today Tonight written all over it - they would eat this story up. Did you discuss this on your radio program? The more noise consumers make about this company the better chance a government body can investigate and sort them out.

P;ease don't let the above be true, I just ordered a projector for $1000 and already they are late. They said they had back orders. I have been staying home every day waiting for it. I mean startrek is a reputable delivery company. I am sitting here waiting and the kids and I are not going anywhere. Now I see it may not come for weeks, if at all. I will start trying to contact them. But like some people above, I will not get ripped off and if I do then I will call the numbers above and call Mastercard and try and get the money returned into my account. Unless of course I paid direct debit. Then I am a smuck. I could cry over this. I will be back later to report to all. This was a huge decision for me. Already it is starting to smell.

I have been waiting for an Order since early March and am having no luck in contacting them - tried calling but the mail messages box is conveniently full! Called ACCC who advised me that it (ozdirectonlinebrands) is registered in NSW. Called the NSW Fairtrading who directed me to their website fairtrading.nsw.gov.au and I have lodged a formal complaint. So if you are concerned log a complaint asap so we can at least get this company closed.

ok, they do deliver... eventually, got a set of sony mdrxd400 headphones delivered finally after 2 months wait, feel like i don't even want em know after such a long disappointing wait.

This is by far the most dissatisfying experience i have ever had with a retailer of any sorts and to make things worse they sent the package through starshonk express, who could only manage a delivery window of 9-5pm? that wasn't the delivery company i requested

Terrible communication and misleading information on there stock levels via their website. My belief is they should be shut down, and that's even after i received the goods...2 months later!

I recently ordered a printer using the online store called OzDirect - they happily took my payment but never sent me the printer. I have tried to contact them on many occasions and have been ignored.

I called them several times and all I got was the answering machine. I opened online tickets and have not received a reply. I have tried the online chat and as soon as I start a conversation it tells me there are no operators online. I have sent emails and no reply either. Finally I have contacted my bank and they are going to try and recover the money for me.

Don't risk loosing your money to this company - go elsewhere!

I have posted this on my forum too in the hope that others won't get caught out by this company - www.mhare.com.au/forum

i agree with all of the above negative comments. I ordered a Palm Z22 organiser on the 24th February. Their website stated the item was in stock and allow 3 business days for order processing and 1 day for delivery. I contacted them after 10 days and was told that my order had been upgraded to priority delivery and that the delay was due to a large backlog in orders. I cancelled my order on the 12th March and received an email to say that I would get a full refund. I sent an email on the 3rd April and another today asking when I was going to get the refund. Still no answer. I think the next step is ACA and NSW dept. of Fair Trading. Unfortunately my advice is DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Unfortunately, another all-too-familiar tale from me as well. I ordered a $1200+ colour laser printer from this mob. The item was supposed to be in stock and delivery 3-4 days. My current printer had broken down and as this was for my business, the need was urgent. After about 10 days (it was over the Easter period but I was too patient) I sent them an email and got a response saying that there were delays from their suppliers and they could not give me an ETA. This item was supposed to be in stock! They said that I could get a refund or a credit and I wrote back immediately saying I want my money back. Since then I have been sending emails, calling, leaving messages etc but no responses. I fear that I have blown my money but this mob needs to be closed down before other unsuspecting people get robbed. Interestingly, I ordered the same printer from another retailer and delivery occurred within 12 hrs!

I ordered from Ozdirect a data projector in mid march 09, after not having received the delivery after two weeks I cancelled the order and requested a refund. It has now been six weeks since I originally made my order and guess what? no refund. I have tried to contact them on numerous occasions with no luck. Although I was eventually able to speak to a guy by the name of Tim from their complaints department who promised the earth (yes, that's right, complaints department) but this was to no avail. The $860 I paid is alot particularly as I work for a charity and am not exactly flushed with funds. I have contacted Fair Trading NSW and am hoping for a positive outcome. I really fear I have lost my money. This is the first time I have ordered anything online and expect that this bad experience will ensure that it will be my last. The e-trading community really need to get their act together and perhaps compensate people for losses from Ozdirect to build confidence in online trading.

Worst online shopping experience ever, with first dealings with Ozdirect! Ordered a video camera on 17/03/09 for $625, expected it within days of ordering (paid by credit card at extra cost!) as the item was 'in stock'. No delivery after a week....many emails and phone calls - told influx of orders had led to delays in shipping... another week goes by...and another week goes by. 3 weeks and not even close to shipping an 'in stock' item. More emails and unanswered phone calls and unattended 'live chat support'. Finally they offer me a refund.... another 3 weeks and still no refund! They have had my money for 7 weeks now and I have nothing to show for it! NSW Fair Trading were no help! Lodged a complaint, but they could get no response from Ozdirect either!! Now trying to get Mastercard to get my money back.

The initial email with a question if the products they sell are new and if they have the printer in stock was answered promptly saying yes to both questions.
Ordered and paid the same day for HPLJ M2727 Printer.
Received a notification email about my order and that the payment was cleared with order status: In Progress.
After one week and no delivery, I opened an Enquiry Ticket using their online support system.
After another week of no update, tried to call the listed numbers and could not speak with anybody (the answering system goes into endless loop).
Cancelled my order and hoping for my money back. I lodged a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading.
Waiting on instructions from my solicitor, I am not going to let them get away with this – will shut them down.

I too wish I had read all of this before I ordered my goods. It is most annoying when they take payment and the goods take weeks to arrive. Yesterday I finally got through to a person on the other end of the phone instead of a full message bank. After telling them that if my goods were not shipped by COB I would be contacting Office of Fair Trade, my goods I see this morning have been dispatched. I would never use them again and would not recommend them to anyone else. They may be Cheaper than other suppliers, but I think it is better to pay a little more for better service.
Has anyone who lives in Sydney actually been to their MLC location ???

I ordered a printer and paid $636.41 on the 21 March 2009. Delivary date given to me was 27 March 2009. But after that they went silent. i requested the goods and I got the following reply: Unfortunately we are unable to supply the item in your time frame therefore we accept your cancellation and will refund you.
However, please note that refund could take up to 30 days. The last email from Ozdirect was on the 9 Apr 2009 was: Our customer support team personnel have replied to your enquiry #779451 as follows: Dear Clarence,Please be assured our accounts department have your refund details, and will notify you with the transaction receipt as soon as your refund is processed.Kind regards.Stacey. Now one and half months later I still can not get my refund from them. Now I have decided to find their business location (if they have any!) and demand my refund in person. I will keep everyone updated.

This company maybe be cheaper with their products, but in the long run it has costs the customers ever more. For me I ordered a printer for $1152.89 from Ozdriect. And after nearly two months still won't answer my calls or reply to my emails regarding the refund. So I had to purchase the printer from a more relyable source which delivered the same printer over night to me which cost me another $1250. PLEASE DO NOT USE OZDIRECT for any reason, they just rip off their customers and keep the money.

I wonder how many more of us are going to be scammed by this company before something gets done about it. I ordered an Asus monitor, it was supposed to be a surprise for my husband birthday. My poor husband is not going to be receiving his monitor in any hurry, if at all by the looks of things. I too have been calling their offices, only to get message banks so full that they cannot take any more messages. If I do not get a result soon, I will take it to my local member of Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard, to see if she can do anything to stop this outrageous scam. I will repeat what many have said on this Forum DO NOT BUY FROM OZDIRECT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THERE ARE BETTER, SAFER MORE REPUTABLE SITES OUT THERE. Jayne

I've just noticed a new 'Important Notice' link on the Ozdirect homepage: www.ozdirect.com/page.php?page=7. It seems to be a response of sorts to all the complaints. They state that they have received less than 1.5% complaints concerning the orders placed! However they do offer a new email address to follow up complaints with: customerservicemanager@ozdirectonlinebrands.com
I have just sent a 'letter of demand' for my refund be processed to this email address - let's see what happens next...

What do we really know about Ozdirect? Where is their office, and I am not refering to the virtual office at the MLC location? Why don't they pemit pick up? Why is there not discernable pictures of staff or management on the web site? Why no names in full of staff or management? Why is it that if you are able to speak to somebody it is the complaints department person? Why are the complaints department people unable to help you? Why does it take so long for refund, assuming a refund is forthcoming? My mind is abuzz with questions about this mob.

Hi,
I ordered a 22'' LCD monitor on 2nd of March 2009 (that they said two in stock) for AU$242.50 and paid extra AU$27.94 for delivery within next 2 days plus AU$9.01 because I paid using my master card.17 days later I sent an email inquiring about the item which I should have received in 2 days. The reply was they are waiting for the supplier. In the second e-mail I said if you cant supply the item as you promised I would like a refund. They were quick to take the second option and cancelled the order, told me a refund will take 30 days.Uptodate(14/05/2009)I have tried phoning them, using there so called customer support ticket system with no result. When I tried to open a new inquiry today,I couldn't it came up with a massage saying you have run out of your allocated tickets.
Who are these people? How come they can operate like this in a country like Australia. This is like highway robbery.Yet Myshopping.com advertise and endorse them. This is digusting.I like to join with you STU.

I am pleased to say that I finally (after six and a half long weeks) received a refund from this appalling online business (Ozdirect) after many unanswered phone calls to them, e-mails and complaints to Fair Trading NSW and to VISA who investigated the matter. I would suggest that you don't let up with your protestations and persist with the phone calls to their complaints number who you are more likely (although not guaranteed) to receive a response, and e-mail them continually. Ozdirect cannot continue to operate in this seemingly clandestine manner where their "registered office" in the MLC building level 57 merely only passes on mail to a post office box (what does that look like). I tried to find out who runs the business but was unsucsessful, also the names of managers or senior people in this stinking buisiness are difficult to get hold of, I was unsuccessful. Those responsible are apparently reluctant to make themselves known which to me indicates that they may well be affraid of accountability. Other more efficient and open online operators should perhaps attempt to squeeze Ozdirect out of business and compensate those who have lost to restore confidence in online trading. I for one will not conduct business online anymore. Ozdirect has frightened me away.

I do a lot of online buying and this has been my only bad experience...but what a bad one it is....I ended up getting the camera these thieves lied about having in 3 days from the other side of the country for $5 less than these jerks...but I advise ringing an online place first and finding out if they have in stock before handing over $$$....Ozdirect are still "processing" my refund, (and telling my emails are abusive when they finally replied...Im speechless)so I live in hope, but NEVER GO NEAR THIS SHONKY LOT OF THIEVES EVR AND TELL EVERYONE YOU CAN...got my camera from Gerry Gibbs in Perth and couldnt praise them enough in speed and honesty and price

Same story as Stu - got my camera from a great supplier (Digital Camera Warehouse) in 3 days and $30 less, after Ozdirect failed to supply an 'in stock' camera after 3 weeks! Then another 6 weeks of endless emails, phone calls, lodging Fair Trading NSW complaint, to try and get a refund. Finally my bank got my money back (Westpac Mastercard) yesterday after I lodged a transaction dispute 3 weeks ago. 9 weeks after taking my money, Ozdirect are out of my life, and I am at the end of this terrible saga. Good luck to everyone who is still fighting!

Yeah, l wish l had read these prior to placing an order. It has been 3 weeks now and nothing, the last email was that they were sorry and l am now at priority status to get my order, hmmmm, pushing almost 2 weeks after that and nothing, hate to see if l was not in priority status. Anyway, it has not tarnished my internet buying and if anything, it has made me more "savvy" and l will be doing so much research before l buy. The sad thing is, l tried to save money and got burned, now l am $285 out of pocket., admittedly it has been 3 weeks...lol, when most other companies have it out to your door the following day or days, anyway, l am growing tired of dealing with rubbish companies like this and will see where the office of Fair trading gets me or l am in the television industry and might call on a few friends from Today Tonight to investigate. Having said all that, these sort of shonky companies just set up again under a different name but it is worth the scare. Will keep this forum posted, Cheers, Michael

Yeah this company is a joke, should have done my homework on it first, utter useless fraudulent website full of BS lies and stories, regrettably i have lost my sum of 165 dollars on buying a camera thinking i was getting a bargain when i was mislead from ebay and landed on this site, it assured me on 3 day delivery and goods were in stock although nothing in mail since, very disappointed and once again the phrase lives on 'if it's too good to be true, than it damn well is.' BUYERS BEWARE - SPEND THE EXTRA BUCK AND GO ELSEWHERE

Everyone has the same story – just to recap – Ordered 'in stock' video camera ($625) from Ozdirect on March 17th – fell hook, line and sinker for the 'great service, speedy delivery' pitch. 3 weeks of waiting, frustration, endless emails, phonecalls, nothing happening – Ozdirect finally offers me the option of a refund – to which I yell an immediate YES! – thinking I can finally go somewhere else and buy a camera from a better dealer. Weeks go by – no refund – Ozdirect says it can take up to 30 days for refund... I lodge a complaint with NSW Fair Trading – they can't get an answer from Ozdirect either! Lodge a transaction dispute with my bank, who now after 3 weeks have finally got the money back. So, 9 long weeks after giving Ozdirect my money, I can close the book on this terrible saga. Oh, I found the same camera at Digital Camera Warehouse, $30 cheaper, and delivered across country in 2 business days! Good luck to all who are still fighting! Ozdirect still lists my order as 'refund in progress'...

After 3 months and 22 emails, the last one threatening legal action, and an email to the ACCC, I got my $380 back. It felt like winning the lotto. I think the ACCC might have had a hand in it.

I am 57 year old and also fall for this company. Sent e-mail first asking if the goods will be delivered on time before my trip to Europe. After confirming the delivery in 3 days I paid the money. That is now 10 days. I did not received the notebook I need for my travel and leaving tomorrow. try to communicate with them, but just lost time. 10 e-mails and 2 hours on telephone with automatic response in about 7 attempts.

Hi all this the follow up of my post of 7th May. I visited the 57th Floor MLC Centre Martin Place last week. Large part of the 57th floor is unmarked small offices (just a desk chair and computer) serviced by the 57th floor reception. They are called "serviced Offices". Only this reception knows which room is rented by Ozdirect. If you hold a gun the head of one of the receptionists , she should point you to the right room. The receptionist will tell you that Ozdirect does not have an office and they only collect mail for them. Which is not true. No one can get a serviced office in MLC centre without renting one of their rooms. The 57th floor service reception number is (02)92382100. I am collecting as many as possible customers who got scamed by Ozdirect who are willing take part in class action against Ozdirect. Anyone interested can leave details with my office (02) 98755542. I am also working on to get the attention of police internet fraud squad.

Having waited 4 weeks with little or no useful contact from OZDIRECT.
I received my order this morning. I HAD however complained about them
to both the ACCC and the NSW Office of Fair Trading – that was a week and
3 days ago. Dunno if this had anything to do wit hit – but completely out of
the blue – it arrived. WHY cant they have better customer interaction.
This is ALL so un-necessary
.....
As I said – all this effort we all make for this is un-warranted. I looked round for about 4 weeks for a Canon Flash unit – eBay being the best option till I saw their deal. I wasn't in a hurry. I don't know why they think
this is the way to do business. If they had told me I could get $100 off the eBay price but would have to wait 4 weeks – Fine.
I could have lived with that. Folk who want stuff the next day – no good. They are useless, it appears and what makes matters much worse is the shit way they treat their customers. It's doesn't take an awful lot of effort (MUCH less than that reported on these pages by irate customers) to keep people happy and confident they are being treated well. Cut the gloss and crap on their website and put the effort into good customer relations... sorry . rant over

If you want to pay a personal visit i've been told this is their real address "Suite 7, Level 3, 21 Mary Street, Surry Hills". Maybe someone can check it out and then return with the police. (i'm in QLD so this is not an option for me)

I've been scammed of $1700+, you can't email them, fax them, phone them, use inquiry tickets or live support. They are a ghost company that should be avoided at all costs.

Seems we all have problems with OZDIRECT, let's all report to ACCC and the NSW Office of Fair Trading, so that they do something for us. I already sent a complaints to NSW Office of Fair Trading last week and going to do the same in ACCC.
Let's put an end to this rip off by reporting them to ACCC and Department of Fair Trading.
I had the same issue with them. I bought a laptop and LCD monitor, a wireless keyboard and mouse and 2GB of RAM from OZDIRECT 20 days ago (11th of May 2009), received the wireless keyboard and mouse two days after but the Laptop and 22inch LCD Monitor worth more than 1300AUD never showed up. Please any body who has the same problem go to ACCC or Department of Fair Trading and lodge a complaint to stop these OZDIRECT people from ripping off us and so many other customers.

like alasamorph, we had ordered two pairs of Sony headphones from ozdirect on 23rd April, and after a week became concerned that they had not arrived. Ozdirect didn't respond to our emails, and we rang all their helplines to get 'mailbox full...error has occurred'. We emailed them telling them we would pursue legal action, and were half way through lodging a complaint with Visa when out of the blue we received a consignment note in the post. I collected them today, and to my surprise, the box did in fact contain the headphones! Interestingly, the shipping option we chose at ordering was Australian Air Express, but they were delivered by Star Track Express. I think that the threat of legal action scared a bloke from his computer to Harvey Norman where he bought them and sent them quick smart! Hopefully this has helped, and i hope everyone who has had trouble with ozdirect receive their product or a refund.

I too am having problems with ozdirect. I ordered a LCD HD television $908.98 12th March and paid immediately by bank deposit. Order number OZD015082. I waited a month and heard nothing in the way of an expected delivery date. I emailed ozdirect about the delay and received an email saying they were experiencing a backlog of orders and longer than normal waiting times for delivery. I waited another month and still no television and no notification of when it would be delivered. I emailed again this time requesting to cancel my order and have my money refunded. Immediately I received an email from ozdirect saying that my money would be refunded. That was almost 3 weeks ago. I have emailed them each week since I was told I would get my money back without any response from them. First of all I emailed via the ticket system on the website then I emailed customerservicemanager@ozdirectonlinebrands.com and still I have not had any response to my complaint about taking so long to process my refund. I am now starting to email them every day. I have lodged a complaint with the ACCC and consumer affairs.

I paid for a 18GB SD card in early April and have received nothing. Their listed office is just a Servcorp virtual ,office and they will not provide any info on the company. My emails to them just get a standard reply saying the matter is being attended to. No one answers the phones, they revert to an answering machine. I have reported it to NSW Fair Trading and awaiting a response. Companies selling via websites in Australia should meet certain mandatory requirements or should be shut down and fined by ASIC / Fair Trading. These requirements should include a real address and contact numbers listed with Fair Trading and on the website.

I paid for a couple of Sandisk compact flash cards on 4 May and then got the standardised fob off email responses when I sent enquiries about why I had not yet received the items after several weeks. I then found the masses of negative comments about this company on this and other forums. At that point I thought that I had probably been scammed and that I would never see my items. And then out of the blue on 4 Jun the items came in the post. The memory cards were genuine and the price I paid was about 50% of the rrp - 2 Sandisk Extreme iv 8gb cf cards shipped to me for a total of $200. So I don't quite understand what is going on with this Ozdirect mob. Much of the info posted in this thread would indicate that this is a shady company but myself and others have been shipped items at incredibly good prices. I feel sorry though for those of you who seem to have never received your purchases. I prob wouldn't take the chance of ordering again from them. Sounds too much like random luck as to whether you get your items at all and even then the long delay is too stress provoking.

I too are having problems with Ozdirect. I have no idea why this company hasnt been shut down yet. I paid the $1063 for 3Xgraphic cards plus postage but cancelled my order within 24 hours after finding what I wanted locally .There Passive willingness to ignore everyone of my requested emails, faxes, there ticket system and phone calls (BTW they never answer there phones or have anyone on there online system). Because I live in Brisbane and there company is according to there website and fax form have around 3-4 different addresses in N.S.W I am going to try the following action.
After many many emails sent to them and getting ZERO response to any of them, first thing I am going to do is go see my bank manager and show them that others have been successful in having there funds as stated by postes above by "NEVERAGAIN" and "Odysseus". If that doesn't work I will involve the ACCC,ASIC, and the Office of Fair Trading. and see what happens then.

In the mean time I suggest EVERYONE to sigh the pitition on www.gopetition.com.au/online/26877.html and get the media involved in this crap company.

I am happy to report that I have received a refund from Ozdirect. I had to wait just over a month for the money, but thankfully it came. I left many messages on their answering system, both angry and pleading for the money to be given back. So for those of you still waiting for a refund, don't give up and hang in there. I ordered an Epson photo scanner over two weeks ago and could kick myself for not having checked forums such as this before I transferred the money to their CBA account. Rather depressing to read how long they have got away with it . Is this Nigeria? Does anyone know if banks can reverse transfers and/or whether the small claims tribunals can help as the legal systems appears to be unable or unwilling to provide any protection? Why do banks allow outfits such as this to have accounts and reputable courier companies allow themselves to be associated with it?.

\I purchased MS XP OS software on 23 June 2009 and up to now OZDIRECT failed to provide any indication of delivery date. I asked OZDirect. Is it within 1 day, 1 week , 1 month or 1 year? I have no joy. So I filed a complaint with ACCC. The ACCC is aware of the issues I raised and will use the information I have provided to determine whether there is a pattern of behaviour by Ozdirect that may raise broader concerns. ACCC suggested to make a claim through the small claims court or tribunal in NSW if I want to pursue it further. Hmmm. Does it mean I have to go through legal process to recover my lost? It seems not so good. So, I rang my CREDIT CARD provider and requested to DISPUTE my payment to OZDIRECT for non-delivery of product. This course of action is looking very positive. My CREDIT CARD provider will investigate my case and if OZDIRECT could not provide evidence of delivery they will reimburse my payment.

ACCC institutes against online retailer Ozdirect Online Brands, director for alleged misleading, deceptive conduct

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has instituted legal proceedings in the Federal Court, Sydney against Ozdirect Online Brands Pty Ltd, and its director Paul Albright, for alleged contraventions of the Trade Practices Act 1974.

The conduct relates to the offer for sale of electronic goods on websites including www.ozdirect.com, www.ozdirect.com.au and www.ausbuys.com.

The ACCC alleges that Ozdirect accepted payment from consumers for goods it knew, or ought reasonably to have known, it would not be able to supply within a reasonable time, and that it made misrepresentations to consumers, about the availability and likely delivery times of items and also, consumer warranty and refund rights.

The ACCC alleges Ozdirect's conduct was misleading or deceptive and contravened sections 52, 53(g) and 58 of the Act, and that Mr Albright was knowingly concerned in that conduct.

The ACCC seeks orders including declarations that Ozdirect's conduct contravened the Act and that Mr Albright was knowingly concerned in that conduct; injunctions, including interim injunctions; findings of fact; an order that Ozdirect implement a trade practice compliance program; and costs.

This matter has been listed for an interlocutory hearing on July 24 2009.

Does anyone understand if we'll be in a position to get our money back of this guy?
Given the number of dissatisfied customers on this site, I reckon I could offer some suggestions for a bit of 'tough love' to re-educate the individuals involved. Sorry, venting.

Another unfortunate buyer to add to the list. I bought a printer for $410.57 on 22 June 2009 and after paying my order was canceled 11 days later with Ozdirect claiming I hadn't paid for the item. I sent several emails and opened up an enquiry ticket and after many weeks got a reply saying they found my payment and that my order was being processed. Several weeks later today, my order is still being processed (seems like it will be for a long time to come). I happened to call my bank a few weeks ago and told them to put forward a "request to reverse transfers" to Ozdirect's bank account. No reversal of funds yet, so it seems like I may need to contact the police or some other officials and turn this into a civil proceeding. Also, I noticed the ACCC comment above. What was the outcome of the hearing?

UPDATE:
Filled in the complaint form with ACCC who some days later referred me back to Dept. of Fair Trading. Went in to the Gosford (NSW) branch filled in all the paper work with copies of every email and document.
They proceeded with a letter of demand which OZdirect did not answer so Fair Trading sent me a email as below

"I refer to your letter of 13 July 2009 regarding your purchase of a Benq W500 Projector from OzDirect Online Brands.

The Office of Fair Trading has been unable to contact OzDirect Online Brands regarding your concerns. Therefore we are unable to raise your concerns to see if the owner/manager is prepared to resolve the matters that you have raised.

If payment was made by credit card it may be possible for the bank to cancel the credit card debit in accordance with the banking industry's chargeback arrangements. Credit card chargebacks can be sought when consumers fail to receive the service or goods from traders who have entered into a merchant agreement. If this is the case you should contact your bank urgently as time limits for claims vary between 90-120 days. Should your bank reject this request you should contact the Banking Industry Ombudsman on 1800 344 777 or write to GPO Box 3A Melbourne Victoria 3001.

You also have the option of pursuing the matter further by lodging a claim with the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT). The CTTT provides an effective and inexpensive means of settling consumer disputes and is capable of making enforceable orders. However should you proceed to the CTTT and the owner of the business cannot be located or has gone into bankruptcy, orders will be unenforceable. An application, explanatory brochure with applicable fees has been enclosed for your information. Alternatively, you may choose to consult your own private legal adviser.

The information you have provided will be retained on Fair Trading's computerised Case Management System. This database is used to monitor marketplace trends and practices.

Thank you for bringing the matter to Fair Trading's attention.

I'm now going to fill in a Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal application pay $34 ans see where it takes me

Hello,

I am in the same case. After 3 months of mails without response and being in contact with the Office of Fair Trading the next step for me must be the Tribunal.
Has somebody tried the Tribunal ? Is it possible to have our money back ?
I just tried today to go on their website and there is a message saying that the page is temporary overload. It seems very bad.

Reinitiated contact, but have been unable to get a response. Now the website is down, presumably forever. I really wish I hadn't paid using direct debit!! :( :(

Rack up another victim! Purchased a printer May 09, still waiting! Now 17 Aug 09 and they don't respond to phone calls or e-mails like everyone has already said. Looks like $280.00 up in smoke!. ACCC update: (www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/885019)!

Interlocutory injunctions against Ozdirect Online Brands, director over alleged misleading & deceptive conduct

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has obtained interlocutory injunctions in the Sydney Federal Court against online retailer Ozdirect Online Brands Pty Ltd and its director, Paul Albright, over alleged misleading and deceptive conduct.

The injunctions, made with the consent of the parties, stop Ozdirect from accepting payment for goods when there are reasonable grounds of which the company is aware, or should be aware, that it could not provide supply in a reasonable time. Another order restrained Ozdirect from making misleading representations to consumers about the availability of goods advertised on its websites.

The conduct relates the sale of electronic goods on websites including www.ozdirect.com, www.ozdirect.com.au and www.ausbuys.com.

The ACCC alleges that Ozdirect accepted payment from consumers for goods when there were reasonable grounds of which the company is aware, or should be aware, that it could not provide supply in a reasonable time. The ACCC also alleges that Ozdirect made misrepresentations to consumers about the availability and likely delivery times of items and consumer warranty and refund rights.

Ozdirect is also restrained from making certain misleading representations regarding refunds. The injunctions apply until further orders are made.

The ACCC alleges Ozdirect's conduct was misleading or deceptive and contravened sections 52, 53(g) and 58 of the Trade Practices Act 1974, and that Mr Albright was knowingly concerned in that conduct.

The ACCC seeks final orders including declarations that Ozdirect's conduct contravened the Act and that Mr Albright was knowingly concerned in that conduct; injunctions; findings of fact; an order that Ozdirect implement a trade practices law compliance program; and costs.

The matter has been stood over for its next directions hearing on November 6 2009. The parties have been ordered to attend mediation on or before August 27 2009.

Hello,

It seems to me that we are all in the same situation.
I had ordered a Harddrive of the ozdirect website but after i enquired as to a delivery date I was informed it would be over a month, this was two weeks after i ordered it I decided to take the refund option i asked for the refund on 22/07/2009 It is now a month later and i haven't received anything.
Does anyone know if the ACCC actions will assist in getting our refunds or just because we are the average consumer we get screwed over, I find this appaling we should be treated as creditors and in that case we should be able under a class action or preferably through a government body to claim against the asshole owners personal or business holdings and receive our refunds through a forced sale of his properties if he doesn't have the liquid funds available to pay us back our money which he acquired illegally.
Please contact me on my email hlraza@optusnet.com.au if anyone has information on what is happening with our money.

I have been waiting since the beginning of June for my software to be delivered I have emailed called emailed, and I have received no information. Looks like we are screwed as well. Can't get a hold of anybody, which now doesn't seem surprising given the above responses. If anyone is interested in putting together a class action against these guys then I am more than happy to be involved as I have lost about $3000, as I purchased software from these people. If anybody wishes to pursue a class action then I would be more than interested.

In April 2009, i was placing an order for a ethernet switch and had entered the shipping and billing details including my credit card details. When I clicked on "process the order", the 'HT404 Web site not found' error appeared so I assumed that the order had failed. Imagine my surprise and annoyance when a $90 charge appeared on my credit card bill some 4 days later from OZDIRECT. I registered a complaint with the website and was told that a refund would be made the following month. That was in April and after following them up in May and June, I've still not received a refund. Now it appears that the website (ozdirect.com) has been shutdown. I'm going to see if my bank can recover the money although I don't hold out much hope as it's over 4 months down the track.

Same story. Purchased a hard drive in May. Never delivered, no responses to my cancellation requests. Their ticket system is a rort. They are guilty of unconscionable conduct & i do not understand why the ACCC has not been able to take action against them or Director Paul Albright with this volume of consumer complaints. (i have already reported my transaction to the ACCC several months ago).
