My dishlex DX 302 WB has broken after just 2 years. Two and a half months out of warranty, it ceased to produce hot water. Something you would think is fundamental to a dishwasher. The service centre are not interested. Said it was the heating element. Got one of those sent out and fitted by an electrician and it still doesn't work. The electrician said it is likely to be the control panel on the front, a much more expensive fix.
I will never buy another dishlex. I had heard such good things about them but if they produce a machine that ceases to function after just 2 years and have no interest in fixing it in good faith as it is so close to the warranty date, then they do not deserve customer loyalty.

How about that. Mine has just broken too and it is not much older either. Exactly the same problem. Beaut thing about being in the marketing business is that you can get your own back. Posted by: 31-Mar-2008

Revs I don't think incagold actually got the problem fixed up. I would contact the westinghouse technical department where they could probably address the issue with you. Here is the number for whirlpool and you can ask them about the error: 1300 363 344 Posted by: 7-Oct-2008

I have a dishlex dishwasher that is not quite two years and I am now in the process of looking to buy another. Mine doesn't heat the water and won't dry the dishes. The warranty technicians told me they are like that now because they are saving energy. It is not saving my energy if I have to wash every dish before I put them into the dishwasher just to get it to clean the dishes. I will never buy another one of the dishlex products again and I have told anyone thinking of buying one not to get dishlex. Does anyone know of a brand that cleans and fan drys the dishes?

Dishwashers are not the easiest thing to buy for your kitchen as I recently discovered while fitting out my kitchen and choose to buy the www.myshopping.com.au/PR--179464_Bosch_SGU53E75AUSS_Dishwasher and it has turned out to be a good buy as it is working fine as of now ( touch wood) and it manages to look good too. I noticed another very angry forum about Fisher & Paykel and though I have not personally used that brand, I guess that is another brand you can stay away from along with the Dishlex. hi
mine had this exact same problem - it turns out that the relay on the control board had not been soldered on properly. mine has shorted out over time, and caused a lot of charing of the localised area. i checked the relay, it was okay, so have resoldered the board and all is working for now.
i called Electrolux - 1800 001 218 - to report the problem, as i believe there are too many peoplew reporting this issue for it to be a one off. i was also concerned about a fire risk, as the charing on mine was considerable.
too be blunt, Electrolux didn't seem to care too much, unless if i wanted to pay to have someone come look at it, despite the fact that i am an electrician.
Electrolux currently say that this is the first time this problem has been reported - despite that fact they are aware of this thread. i would encourage anyone whoi has this fault to call the above number and report your problems to them, as i believe a recall may be waranted, and, should your unit have serious problems (fire) it is on record.
Electrolux currently have a recall on a couple of other dishwashers due to the fact they pose potential fire risks - see www.recalls.gov.au

G'day Guys, Started having an intermittent problem with the dishwasher not always getting hot. It was so irregular I could not isolate it. The heating element and the pressure switch were both fine. It packed it in totally last week and low and behold I located a dry joint on the PCB. The board had hardly any solder around the relay pins, luckly there was no further damage, ie charring as stated in the previous threads. Will contact Electrolux and let them know how I feel about there product.. Simon P Posted by: 30-Nov-2008

Hi Ben, Electrolux is recalling just a couple of dishwashers? Are they offering any replacements (not that I think you would be interested in one from the same brand). As mentioned earlier in my post, I would recommend that you try out the Bosch machine as it is really something to reckon with and one can only be happy about the fact that there are other brands to choose from even though there are some lemons like Electrolux and Dishlex! I have a Dishlex DX303WK only 6 months old only used about 12 times on quick 30. The display panel on the front does not light up. I have tried all the cancel tips recommended in the instructions and it will not let you select a programme. The whole machine falls forward if you have both shelves out at the same time which is the normal way to pack a dishwasher. The first time it happened I had glasses etc everywhere. Dangerous!!! I called electrolux and have been told to call an agent. We live in a rural area so I hope the problem with the appliance is covered by warranty or I will be up for big bucks. The dishlex I had before this one lasted 15 years and never had any problems at all. The westinghouse we have in our other home is doing exactly the same thing and the appliance repairer said $300 plus service charges for the board. Great hey. Posted by: 28-Dec-2008

Seems I have the same problem as many of you. I've got a DX302SJ which I've had for 3 years and when its finished all the glasses are wet and cold. What I can't see from this thread is whether anybody has managed to have the dishwasher repaired successfully and how much it cost? Electrolux call out & 1st 15 mins @ $93 but with extra time ... could become heinously expensive.
Ben - FYI I don't have the charring problem so don't see how it's a specific fire risk ... as much as I'd love an auto-recall / replacement.

WOW, Just noticed my 302sj isnt drying the dishes, Just phoned electrolux and they are unaware that there is a problem on these models. They pre ordered a heating element before the service guy takes a look as i then asked about the soldering aspect in control panel. No comment given. See what happens monday week. Could be cheaper to buy a new dishwasher. Mine 2 1/2 years old. Posted by: 13-Jan

I have a DX 302 which has stopped heating. I got a repair guy to come out and he replaced the PCB which apparently controls the heating cycle. Three days later it's stopped heating again. When I rang the repair guy he said he'd order another PCB as the new one must have been faulty. It sounds like Electrolux have an issue with there quality control. Posted by: 9-Feb

This looks very sad. Thought I would google the Dishlex DX302 to see how I might replace a heating element on my dishwasher and now I see a trend of issues from other dissatisfied customers.
Can someone tell me where the MCB is located so that I can look at the relay joints and soldering? Posted by: 14-Mar

I also have had problems with my Dishlex DX302 for sometime (3 years old but not been working for many months) not washing the dishes well and not drying the dishes. Realise now that it is not heating the water. Have been having stomach problems for a while also, as has my partner and think this may be related to the dishes not washing. Also came on this site to look up what can be done and find it seems very likely a fault with the dishwasher. Will definitely be following this up with Electrolux. Posted by: 15-Mar

Well, same problem as all you poor buggers, DX302 Dishlex Dishwasher 4 y/o. Does't heat water or dry dishes. Will be calling Consumer Affairs (1300 55 8181) and the Product Safety Brach ACCC (1300 302 502), call these guys all of you and surely something will come of it. Best of luck to you all. i am an appliance technicain and electrolux products these days as with most mass produced goods are not the same as they used to be the technology is ahead of itself and they mass produce all electonic components and are no where near as good as the old ones bring back the old mechanical timers and rid everyone of this 3 to 5 year turnover of whitegoods Posted by: 4-Jun

I had a Dishlex about ten years ago. It worked fine. Since moving I purchased a new Dishlex and from the start it leaked through a weld at the door hinge and it was replaced under warranty with a DX302. Now this is sure a piece of CRAP. It is dangerous. The wires to the power switch are melted and charred and the copper wire has become so hot that it looks like it has effected the crystal stucture of the copper and in the process of getting hot it melted the plastic around the terminals on the on/off button. Of course it was just out of warranty. I replaced the switch and it worked for a while but then it developed an intermittent problem where none of the lights on the front worked or it would not switch on. Moving the dishwasher around fixed the problem so it appears it could be a loose connection and now it has worked for a few months without incident. - that is until yesterday when it would not clean anything. Upon checking, the water is not getting hot so either wiring or element. Considering the common thread of Burnt wiring and connections it is definitely a SAFETY issue and also a manufacturing fault. These Dishlexes should be recalled. What a disgrace. Electrolux?? Never again.
As advised above I will be calling Consumer Affairs (1300 55 8181) and the Product Safety Branch ACCC (1300 302 502) as the later models were recalled due to the wiring fire hazard and I bet these have the same fault . Posted by: 3-Jul

Well, I pull the front panel off first to check the circuit board and the copper on the printed circuit had melted it got so hot with corresponding scorching of the plastic housing. The track to one of the terminals to what appears to be a relay had evaporated, so a piece of copper wire between the terminal and the track soldered in place has got it working again and now the water is hot. When it finally gives up the ghost I will not be buying another Electrolux! Posted by: 3-Jul

We just had our 3yo Dishlex dishwasher stop heating water during the cycle. The repair man came along only with a new PC board and fitted in about 15mins. He said he did about 5 Dishlex dishwashers a weak and it's always the PC board.... $302 later, we have a working dishwasher again Posted by: 10-Aug

Hi every one. I also have a DX302 Dishlex dishwasher and I had the same problem with the controller after 2 1/2 years. The problem is the soft solder connecting the control relay to the copper strip. All I did is re-solder the blown out solder with double the amount of solder. I made sure the solder from one strip was not joint to the other copper strip. I did this repair about 2 month ago and it is still working. I see how long it will last. Cheers. Posted by: 19-Aug

DX302 is criptic for CRAP dishlex. I have owned a CRAP dishlex for 4 years and have always been fixing it. First it left dishes not properly washed -- ended up wrapping the CRAP dishlex in glad wrap to see what was happening. The rotating arm stopping on basket -- alter metal basket to repair and OK. Then water leaking out door -- replace seal. Not heating or drying properly [took while to realise as we had plumbed CRAP dishlex to our hotwater system] Found site suggesting faulty circuit board so removed and fixed this next. I would not recommend Dishlex no matter what. It was our first dishwasher we have purchased and the many $$$$ we spent on it is huge for the small time it has worked properly. Crap dishlex working at the moment but would love to throw off cliff and watch it slowly smash into small pieces.

I've got a similar issue with this junk, as stated Electrolux don't give a damn.. WILL NEVER BUY ANY ELCTROLUX/WESTINGHOUSE PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN!!.. DX302SJ, the dishwasher won't even power up, the lcd panel is dead. Replaced the push switch twice, as the spring function is sh*t, just had enough.. complete junk.. Looking at buyin a Whirlpool this time. instead of paying elctrolux to repair this unreliable junk.........DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS THESE PRODUCTS. Posted by: 31-Oct
