Strengths: Excellent throughput and range along with the ability to cut off external disturbances

Weaknesses: Hits you where it hurts…price is double that of other standard routers. May not work with some select legacy hardware

What are the key features of a wireless router which you look for when shopping for one? The throughput is one and the range is probably the second most important one. The NetGear WPN 824 RangeMax scores high marks on both these fronts and if this is not enough, it also has a very sleek design unlike other routers which tend to look like a box. The RangeMax is readily available in most stores and you can install one without much ado.

As all good things come with an impressive price tag, the WPN 824 also does not disappoint! To understand my remark, you will need to compare the router with other routers in the same product category and you will realize that the WPN 824 is priced a whopping 200% higher than other routers! If this pricing issue is not bad enough (which of course means that you have enough moolah to spend twice the money as a normal router would cost!) then you might also like to know that this router does not have a high-grade performance when coupled with legacy equipment.

The router does manage to deliver all that it promises (which cannot be said for other routers from well known brands) and its multiple antennas also takes care of external interferences such as cordless phone and other wireless routers in close vicinity. Needless to add the NetGear WPN 824 boasts of some major technical improvements and the high price tag does become slightly more tolerable when you take in the good reviews and overall good performance by the router.
