This is one phone which does not impress users by the way it looks which by the way is large and a bit ugly but everything that it can do. The 8700g is no doubt a very smart phone which manages to retain the trademark BlackBerry QWERTY keypad but adds on a very good speakerphone and instant messaging. The standard features of BlackBerry such as email and document viewing continue but expanding the memory is a negative which has still not been addressed in this model. The phone quality is also not too bad and this time round the battery life does offer about four hours of continuous talk time.

Since I have been an old time BlackBerry user, I can connect on the fact that the keypad is not as great as the older models and the curving of the keys have actually made them quite slippery. It is something that takes a bit of getting used to but once you have that sorted, you are likely to enjoy the excellent EDGE internet connectivity and Bluetooth functionalities. The 8700g is a major improvement and has given RIM a shot in the arm when it comes to BlackBerry sales across the globe. I will recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for an office away from home and to those for whom email is a critical part of their business process.
