Full Review
The NetGear WPN824 RangeMax Wireless Router is the latest in devices to use high-performance MIMO technology. However, it also includes new technology integrating more antennas inside the case of the router. With a sleek, compact look, this particular device is an excellent purchase.
On the downside, the RangeMax wireless router is pricey, but when you consider the technology and reliability of the unit, it is well worth every penny. Also, it doesn’t integrate well with legacy devices. However, you’ll find that the router has excellent wireless range, and it provides a strong block to interference from cordless phones, other wireless networks, or additional electronic devices.
The router is fast in processing inputs, especially at close range. The setup process for the router is quick and easy, taking only a few minutes. An automatically loading CD will install the software necessary to run the setup and installation of the WPN824 RangeMax. On top of all of this, the new technology from Video54 allows for great reception with no external antenna. There are more antennae internally for greater reception and wider range, but by being tucked into the unit, they are out of your way and not in any danger of being broken.
If there is a real complaint about the NetGear wireless router, it’s the incredibly short term of the warranty (one year only as opposed to the lifetime warranty offered by several competitors) and the minimal tech support offered (which is an excellent 24x7 service but is only available for 90 days after the date of purchase). Considering the high price you will pay for the device, you’d expect better service.
Overall, if you are willing to pay the price, the NetGear WPN824 RangeMax Wireless Router can’t be beat in terms of the latest technology and best performance. You’ll find cheaper units that come close to it, but nothing will actually match it.
