Full Review
If you are looking to purchase a router on a budget, the D-Link DSL-G604T ADSL2+ Modem Router is a decent model for a low price. However, if you want a modem router that functions reliably at all times, especially if you have multiple workstations, you may want to continue your search.
On the positive side, the DSL-G604T ADSL2+ is inexpensive, and the console is easy to use. Compared to several other models, the configuration of the modem/router is a fairly simple process. However, every time you have a power outage, you will have to manually re-connect the LAN, assign a new SSID, and restart the AP in order to bring the WLAN back up. This is incredibly inefficient in a home office application.
Every once in awhile, it seems that the D-Link modem router loses custom settings, and reconfiguring this constantly is a big pain. The firewall built into the system is also a problem, as it will block outgoing traffic. On occasion, you will find that the connection drops repeatedly, causing the modem to have to redial twenty or more times a day. The only way to correct the problem is to shut down the DSL-G604T for a period of time. This is extremely inconvenient should you need to use the Internet for business, school, or other necessity.
Of course, for the price, this particular D-Link modem router provides as decent a performance as you can expect. You can actually access the network quickly and easily in order to get your work done. However, if you have multiple workstations, you’ll be hard-pressed to get this unit to support your network.
Overall, the D-Link DSL-G604T ADSL2+ Modem Router is a cheap solution that can provide basic service on a single workstation. However, if you are looking for something with greater capabilities and more reliability, you should probably pass on this purchase.
