Weaknesses: Resource hungry, learning curve, expensive

The Photoshop CS3 from Adobe is not meant for the slow machines of the world. Be prepared to earmark 1.5 GB to run this program which is full of new features and has a wider expanse in terms of features which is likely to send design professionals in a tizzy of excitement. Yes, you got it right…the Photoshop CS3 is not meant for the home user since it is quite complicated and suitably expensive. The CS3 can be bought with features which allow video and 3D content as well and that is almost twice as expensive as the standard version.

As a professional, I am not sure if so many new features is going to make my job easier or tougher than before. The increase in number of options increases the design permutation and combinations available and it become difficult to make up your mind. Furthermore, I am not in the mood to upgrade my PC to the next version just because the new Photoshop CS3 is so resource hungry. There seems to be no end to upgradations which new OSes from Microsoft also demanding significant resources.

The significant learning curve is also a bit unnerving with the Photoshop CS3. However, once you have spent the money, it is likely that you will use it so happy learning. I hate the time I have to take away from my commercial work in order to learn the new features…having said that, the HELP functionality of Adobe Photoshop rivals none. One thing is for sure, the Photoshop CS3 is a serious piece of software, and with a serious price tag….and can help graphic designers keep up with the times.
