The 1030 from Olympus MJU is a tough piece of equipment which offers a waterproof digital camera meant for use in rough terrain. The MJU 1030 manages to offer freeze proof features as well making it suitable for really cold climate. The best part is that the camera offers all these features without being too bulky and cumbersome. It still manages to retain the sleekness of the original MJU cameras and the added features really make it a power-packed digital camera.

Personally, I really liked the chrome finish of the camera which made it look more stylish and compact that it actually is. The MJU range remains a favorite with travelers across the world mostly due to its size and performance. The 1030 comes with a few surprises as well….you can now take it scuba diving with you as it offers underwater photo options as well. However, all these interesting features come at a premium price which is usually about 15% from other similarly priced cameras.

The photographs from the 1030 are by far one of the better ones seen from digital cameras. It gives users an excellent zoom feature and though some noise does exist in the background of the pics on higher ISOs….they can be ignored as they are minor in nature. The Olympus MJU 1030 is definitely one of the best products from the company so far and can only be beaten by a better product in its own range…pricing however, should be re-considered by the company.
