Full Review
My Panasonic TH42PZ700A was delivered on 29th March 08. By 14th April it had broken down (ie 16 days) and will take at least 2 weeks or more to repair.

Panasonic refuses to replace it and the retailer (Powerhouse) says they too won't replace and I have to get Panasonic to do it.

Panasonic says that if it breaks down in less than 21 days it is considered DOA. Dead on arrival.

Imagine that! They actually have a term for it.

So... just how often does it happen for Panasonic to have a term for it?

Go figure.

"Panasonic refuses to replace it and the retailer (Powerhouse) says they too won't replace and I have to get Panasonic to do it."

That's illegal. Powerhouse has an obligation under the Trade Practices Act to replace your television. It's the law.

I'm pretty sure Panasonic didn't coin the phrase"Dead on Arrival", as most electronic products have this policy built in to their warranty, especially computer products. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with this model, as it is the one I am looking at getting, being recommended to me by other reviews and also sales staff in various retail outlets.

Good luck with getting your replacement, hope it works out well for you
