Full Review
Overall, the Canon IXUS 65 digital camera is a great purchase, if you are willing to spend the money for it. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck, with 6.0 megapixel resolution, 173,000 pixels, video plus audio capability, and 12x total zoom ability. Battery life extends for 160 images, meaning that you are not constantly stopping to replace the camera batteries when trying to take pictures and end up missing that once-in-a-lifetime shot.
The camera itself is slim and light, making it easy to carry and storable in small spaces. The ISO 800 setting is an excellent feature that allows pictures to be shot indoors sans the use of a flash, allowing for a more natural look and quality and reducing the possibility of red-eye (it also allows you as the user to sneak in photos of people unexpectedly and doesn’t blind the subject of your photography). The Canon IXUS 65 also has the capability of producing widescreen shots for a more panoramic view.
One of the two major downfalls of the camera is that the pixel count is quite low for a camera with no optical viewfinder. A 262,000 pixel image would have made a huge difference in the quality of the image you see for a lens this size. The other initial problem seen with this particular Canon camera is the lack of image stabilizing, which is an important feature for individuals willing to spend this kind of money on their digital camera.
A 3x optical zoom and 16 shooting modes make the Canon IXUS 65 an excellent camera for all purposes, and even with the flaws in design, it is an incredibly high-tech, easy-to-use device that brings great quality to the images shot. If you don’t mind paying a pretty penny, then this Canon is an excellent choice.
