The Sony DSC-T30 digital camera maintains the value of other similar cameras from Sony, with 7.2 megapixel resolution, an ISO speed of up to 1000 for shooting in low-level lighting without a flash, and a huge 3.0-inch LCD display. The design is much appreciated by the followers of the “gadget” phenomenon of the belief that smaller is always better, as the T30 is ultra-slim and easy to carry.

Of course, the combination of the giant LCD screen and the ultra-slim design do have a downside, allowing for ease of cracking the screen. The thin design makes the camera less sturdy, and this can easily cause you to puncture the LCD display. Like other T-series cameras, you have the ability to create slide shows set to a soundtrack that you can store in the camera for viewing pictures without ever using a computer.

There is a bit of shutter lag with this version of the Sony Cyber-Shot, which is not a problem with other models in the same line. However, the image stabilizer for individuals with “shaky hands” is top of the line and reduces or completely removes blur caused by instability. Of course, this would be of greater assistance if the camera had a better grip. However, the T30 has but a small finger ledge and a slippery frame that make it difficult to hold onto while shooting.

The battery is larger, and due to this in addition to the larger size of the LCD screen, the DSC-T30 is about 10 ounces heavier than other versions of the Sony Cyber-Shot. While this is not a huge issue under most circumstances, carrying it in your purse or pocket will make you take note of the difference in weight. Overall, the Sony DSC-T30 digital camera is a great purchase for someone who can careful stow their camera to protect the touchy screen.
