Strengths: Reasonably priced, well modeled camera which offers LAN based live streaming

Weaknesses: Does not include motion control…need to buy it separately

MyLANcam is an interesting product and mostly meant for corporates and surveillance teams looking at installing a web cam based on IP. However, that is not the only usage for it and home users may opt for it if they are willing to pay the hefty price tag which accompanies the camera. This NetComm camera is quite large and requires sufficient space to be set up (yet another reason why home users might not opt for it).

MyLANcam is fast becoming popular with the requirement of surveillance increasing due to terror alerts. The camera does not come cheap but fact of the matter is that it does manage to deliver a range of services which many other cameras are not able to deliver and they might be lot more expensive than this one.

There is an additional feature which can be clubbed with this camera and that includes motion detection. However setting up this feature is a bit more complicated than just hooking up the camera and requires you to set up a PC along with the camera to get going. This might mean an additional cost which is not required in the competing products of MyLANcam. The decision of choosing this camera is dependant on your requirement of motion control.
