Strengths: Good price, output is decent, built is very solid and the DVD player is sleek

Weaknesses: Red fringing and foreign DVDs may not work

The sleek look of the Panasonic portable DVD player is impressive and if you are looking for a mobile entertainment solution, then the LS80 fits in very well. The screen size is a comfortable 8.5 inches (yes, this might sound small, but on a portable DVD player it is a good size). The Panasonic branding and technology expertise also helps in making the DVD player quite a good one. The main reason for its popularity is likely to be the competitive price tag it sports.

The LS80 is also quite a tough DVD player and is perfectly suited for a long road trip. However, some of the foreign format DVDs might not work on the player and even after a lot of investigation, it is not apparent why they just refuse to play on the DVD. Barring this, the player has a very smooth built making it look a lot better than many other competing DVD player.

If you experience red fringing of images it is quite likely an issue an issue of the DVD rather than the player. As mentioned earlier, not all DVDs are likely to work with the Panasonic LS80 and it requires a bit of caution otherwise you might end up damaging the player. Portability is obviously not an issue and if you are looking for a reasonably priced portable DVD player, the LS80 comes highly recommended.
