The Brother MFC-9840CDW laser color multifunction printer appears to be the bigger version of the Brother MFC-7340, and integrates the functions of a printer, copier, scanner, and a fax machine all into one unit. This machine is stuffed with all the faetures you can expect from a multifunction printer at an affordable price. The paper holding capacity of the MFC-9840CDW is really good, with options to hold about 800 sheets totally. An interesting plus point of this multifunction printer is that the user can upgrade the memory from the default 128MB to 640MB with the help of a panel at the left side of the machine.
The toners of this printer are comparatively small, nevertheless it yields decent rates of 4000 pages per colour toner and 5000 pages for the black toner. However the price of the consumables is a major concern. It is higher than the normal and will incur a running cost of 22.2c per A4 page, which is quite expensive. Another drawback is the fact that Brother MFC-9840CDW cannot perform multiple tasks at the same time. If you want to copy or print while scanning, you will have to first stop the scan function to do the rest. The printer speed and quality of the print is average, although there are certain issues with transitions between green and blue colours.
Overall, the Brother MFC-9840CDW multifunction printer is just another printer and you can definitely find better ones in the market.
