The Brother MFC-7340 laser black and white multifunction printer is the cheapest mono laser multifunction in Brother’s product range. This machine is targeted at small businesses, where cheaper printing solutions are needed. The MFC-7340 is known for its simplicity and affordability in a no-nonsense package. The input paper capacity of 250 sheets is decent, and it also comes with a manual single page feeder. However, the paper output tray capacity is disappointing, as it can hold only 150 sheets. Replacing the toner requires some effort, because one has to remove the entire drum unit to replace the toner. All said and done, this machine is really cost efficient resulting in a heart-warming consumable cost of 4.8c per page.

One of the major issues of the MFC-7340 is the connectivity, which is limited to a single USB 2.0 port. There is no ethernet, Wi-Fi or duplex facility, and the fax speed is shockingly slow – 14.4Kbps, which is equal to that of cheap stand alone fax machines. The printing speed of 21 ppm, although not very mind blowing, is very impressive considering the fact that it is consistent across the three quality settings. The print quality is flawless and has only minimal brightness differences between quality settings.

The bottomline is that the Brother MFC-7340 laser black and white multifunction printer is very ideal for businesses that require just cheap multifunction systems.
