The Acer Aspire 5738Z is the improved version of its predecessor - the Aspire 6930 laptop. The major improvement in the physical aspect of this machine includes a light-weight body, better keyboard and a bigger trackpad. This relatively compact notebook also has a fingerprint scanner and comes at a cheaper price tag than the Aspire 6930. Although the dimensions of the Aspire 5738Z are the same as that of the 6930, Acer has designed the new one to be slimmer and more compact. The lid has a navy blue finish which does have an appealing look; however, it retains the fingerprints making it a drawback.

The redesigned and improved keyboard is what sets the Aspire 5738Z apart from the 6930. A spring mechanism is used beneath the keys, so that mechanism forces the keys upwards, resulting in an effective feedback. The keys can be easily removed in order to clean the keyboard and the spring mechanism folds flat on the surface during cleaning. Coming to the performance, the Aspire 5738Z does slow down while running many applications at a time. This can be attributed to excess features stuffed into the unit. Apart from this, the Aspire 5738Z is a rock solid choice for an ideal home notebook.
