Full Review
The 2009 release of the Panasonic VIERA Plasma line-ups included eleven new models, out of which the Panasonic TH-P42S10A, a 42-inch Premium Full HD TV tries to lead the race. Claiming to include the most advanced green technology, the TH-P42S10A with just 2.5 star energy rating does not even live up to other common plasmas. Picture is just as other series in line with native 1080p resolution and a powerful 550 Hz sub-field drive. Other high-end goodies are 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, three HDMI ports, 24p playback and an SD card slot. Good contrast ratio along with a host of connectivity is guaranteed with the TH-P42S10A 42-inch Plasma TV.

Same old image banding problem that we have seen on previous plasma TVs of Panasonic is repeated in the TH-P42S10A model. To compensate for the same, it includes the x.v Colour standards for vivid and rich natural colours that will enhance your viewing experience. Despite enough resolution and good gradation, the Panasonic TH-P42S10A lets down a good viewer’s experience. Panasonic’s Energy Wise website has a brilliant tool called the online energy calculator that gives you a perfect picture of how much power is consumed by the Panasonic TH-P42S10A Plasma TV.

Panasonic’s VIERA link technology gives you easy access to all the home entertainment components that are compatible with a single remote. On the construction part, the Panasonic again lets down with the built-in speakers, which are placed too far behind the casing.
With all these quibbles to mind, the Panasonic TH-P42S10A 42-inch Plasma TV can be given a miss when there are other worthy ones from the same series.
