The Nikon D700 has brilliant features and will certainly be appreciated by photographers all over the world. However, it borrows its design and most of its features from Nikon’s D300 and D3 digital SLRs. On the imaging front, the Nikon D700 Digital SLR Camera pretty much resembles the D3. With the same processing engine and 12.1 MP sensor, the results are identical. Thanks to, its full-frame sensor, the D700 inherits D3’s fantastic image quality.

To satisfy a broad spectrum of photographic demands, the D700 includes Nikon’s exclusive 51-point AF system along with the auto exposure and auto white balance detection. Again resembling the D3 and D300 is the EXPEED Processor that ensures no frame rate bottlenecks during analogue to digital conversion. Its 3-inch LCD with 920,000 pixels helps in outstanding photo review as well as Live view. A handful of new features added to the Nikon D700 include the Virtual Horizon Indicator and the Autofocus. The VHI is active in the Live View mode as well.

Just like its predecessors, the D700 is built of magnesium alloy and is completely sealed for a rock solid feel. Further, it just attaches an information display to seal the gap between the camera and the additional flash. Information displayed on the LCD monitor includes shutter speed and aperture. You can even adjust the colour of the font to better view in any lighting conditions. The layout is well-balanced. The menus are customisable and are organised nicely.

The selling point of the camera is that it combines the best of the D300 with the excellence of the D3.
