The TX400 Inkjet Color Multifunction Printer is targeted at photo enthusiasts and small office markets. The TX400 has a glossy piano-black finish which doesn’t look impressive at all. It clearly shows all the fingerprints and the dust it attracts. The printer’s large and heavy body make it a bulky unit.

When it comes to print quality, there is no doubt that TX400 lives up to Epson’s tradition of excellent photographic printing. The prints have stunning quality and reveal every detail. If you select the Epson PhotoEnhance option, the skin tones, scenery and landscapes automatically get adjusted and you get optimum photo results. There is a 2.5-inch, colour LCD viewer on the printer. This swivel LCD screen makes it easy to view displayed images and the TX400’s in-built interface. The printer uses four separate ink cartridges to give you prints at a low price.

There are lots of things that you can do with the push of a button on the Epson TX400 Inkjet Color Multifunction Printer. Faxing, photocopying and even PC-free photo printing is made easy with this printer. It comes with scanning capabilities as well. The scanner’s performance is good but is slow when compared to other variable-use printers. Even the copier doesn’t work at jet speed.

With the memory card reader and the PictBrige port on-board, photographs can be viewed and printed directly from compatible memory cards and PictBridge-enabled digital cameras. The maintenance options come really handy to monitor the status of the printer, the cartridges and even for ink cartridge replacement.

Overall, the TX400’s ability to deliver brilliant photo prints and that too at an economical price, make it a solid performer for the home market.
