The Canon IXUS 980 IS Digital Camera is a new addition to the extensive Digital IXUS line-up of ultra-compact and stylish digital cameras. Elegantly designed, the Canon IXUS 980 IS sports a curvy body and is easily pocketable.

This 14.7 megapixel camera packs in a 3.7x zoom lens, a 2.5-inch monitor and an optical viewfinder too. It is hard to find optical viewfinders on ultra-compact cameras these days. You also get full manual controls on the IXUS 980 IS besides the fully automatic mode. This lets you adjust most of the parameters while shooting and will surely delight advanced users. The Canon IXUS 980 IS sports all the standard features of a modern point-and-shoot digital camera including the Anti-blur Motion Detection technology, Face Detection focus with face self timer, Contrast dynamic range enhancement and Red-eye correction. The Optical Image Stabilizer has been included in this upgrade model and it works well to produce sharper images even in low light conditions..

The picture quality is simply excellent. Adding value to the performance of the camera is Canon’s image processing engine Digic 4. It provides amazing picture clarity. However, the IXUS 980 IS lacks a wide angle lens.

The Canon IXUS 980 digital camera is expensive but if you don’t mind shelling out a fortune for some top quality performance, then just go for it!
