The Mio Moov300 GPS is an entry-level GPS unit. It lacks the bells and whistles of most GPS receivers in the market.

The GPS has a 4.3 wide screen display. The large screen enables you to view the required information easily without taking a break from your stride. It is WAAS-enabled and hence accurate in positioning data. There are NAVTEQ maps on the Mio Moov300 GPS that come with an assurance that all Australian roads will be covered. You can easily add more programs and maps as well as keep a record of your earlier trips with the USB computer interface.

The Mio is equipped with the SiRF STAR III Receiver and it flawlessly connects to a GPS signal less than a minute after it is turned on. The unit is designed for use in land-based vehicles. The verbal navigation instructions that you get with the text- to- speech feature is really impressive. The instructions are loud and clear.

The GPS is a tad slow and this is evident when you type. The other negatives are in the form of “I wish it had……” - A live POI, an integrated Bluetooth, 3-D landmarks would have all been welcome touches. However, their absence is justifiable considering that the Mio Moov300 GPS is a budget unit. It delivers good performance as a navigational device even without offering any supplementary features.

Overall, this 20 channel, automotive global positioning system can be a solid choice for starters.
