Full Review
The Magellan Triton 2000 GPS is teeming with features and is outfitted specially for outdoor activities like hiking, skiing and water sports. The device comes with a 2.7-inch colour touchscreen display.

The Magellan 2000 looks similar to its siblings in the Triton Range. But what really set it apart from its predecessors are the integrated 2 megapixel camera, headphone jack, external antenna port and flashlight. It is difficult to find these functions even in high end handheld GPS devices.

This automotive GPS device carries a stylus for easy tracking of maps but the touchscreen also responds pretty quickly to finger movements. For a greater navigational accuracy, the Triton 2000 combines the SiRF Star III GPS receiver with WAAS/EGNOS support. You can geotag photos and videos or attach them to existing POI and keep a detailed record of your favourite trips

The GPS has an in-built software package called Magellan VantagePoint for handling map, tracks, media and waypoint management. It also carries an electronic compass, pedometer, LED torch, voice recorder, MP3 player and a barometer. The SD card slot is yet another. You can take the Triton 2000 GPS in a boat or canoe without any fear. Like most GPS devices, it is rugged and meets the IPX-7 waterproof standards.

On the downside, its expensive price may turn away many. The pre-loaded maps should have been a little more comprehensive. However, the unit is good for starters and will be a great match for experienced hikers as well.
