Strengths: Excellent styling, very easy to use, includes camera, music player, EDGE, and lots more

Weaknesses: Expensive and very very addictive

If a bulky BlackBerry is not your cup of tea and you are looking for functionality as well as a sleeker form, then the 8100 is quite likely to suit your need. Though I was not overly impressed by the fact that the Smartphone has an easy-to-scratch pearly finish (and thus the name BlackBerry Pearl), the overall 'smartness' of the phone cannot be ignored. Super-fast email and excellent internet browsing experience makes it a perfect travel companion.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 comes with a number of add-ons which are not there in previous BlackBerry models. The EDGE provides you with faster surfing experience. It the inclusion of the camera and MP3 player which makes me choose this phone over other smart phones with similar features. I think BlackBerry has become synonyms to 'email-on-the-move' and this makes it is a bit of a status symbol as well.

On the downside, BlackBerry 8100 is not cheap. With the added cost of subscription, you know you are in for an increased mobile phone bill. However, the ease-of-use really works well for many users who need the 24/7 connectivity. At the end of the day, a BlackBerry can easily make you addicted to you and the only reason I will recommend not buying this phone is that it might make you forget your other relationships!
