Canon is always known for its fantastic line of printers but the Canon MP980 inkjet colour multifunction printer turned out to be a big disappointment. The basic standard of a good printing quality is not fulfilled in this printer. This much hyped model has just a few features that are worth mentioning are its 3.5-inch LCD screen, an easy-to-use control panel and a media card reader. The Canon MP980 looses out to HP Photosmart Premium Fax all-in-one printer due to factors such as unreliable wireless performance, slower output speed and high price. Also, the fax machine and an auto-document feeder are not included in the Canon MP980 inkjet colour multifunction printer. The build quality of the 150-sheet main and rear tray is also very bad.

The photo print speed is only marginally better when compared to other high-end printers such as Canon Pixma MP970, HP Photosmart Premium Fax all-in-one and Kodak ESP5. Thanks to the reliable gray ink cartridge, the Canon MP980 provides high-quality grayscale photo prints and photos. If you run out of gray cartridge it is pretty hard to find in retail stores so it would be wise to invest in an extra pair. The Canon MP980 inkjet colour multifunction printer also supports USB and Ethernet connectivity making it ideal for small businesses.

The only stand out feature of this Canon MP980 inkjet colour multifunction printer that makes the scanner is the ability to scan film and negatives.
