Strengths: Slim design, good battery, QWERTY keyboard

Samsung’s high-end phones have carved a niche by having created some of the slimmest phones available in the global mobile market. The Samsung SGH-i780 is a very slim PDA just measuring 12.9 mm thickness, but it loses out to HTC Touch on design. It gives tough competition to similar devices from Treo and Blackberry devices. The Samsung SGH-i780 mobile phone features a user-friendly QWERTY keypad with conveniently shaped, well-spaced out buttons for good thumb typing. The spacebar triggers silent mode quickly and the hang-up button keylocks the device. These characteristics set the Samsung SGH-i780 mobile phone apart from the entire fancy line of PDAs available in the market.

The Samsung SGH-i780 model is a less expensive HSDPA-enabled Windows Mobile enabled PDA compared to HTC TYTN II and i-mate Ultimate 8502 mobile phones. It also features a large 320 x 320 LCD display and a superb MP3 player. However, the much hyped optical joystick is less effective when compared to the joystick present in the Raon Digital Everun UMPC. Similar to other HTC models that don’t have a separate audio connector, the Samsung SGH-i780 too has only one connecter. We just have to wait and watch that at least the next model includes this important feature. It also has a powerful Li-Ion 1480 mAh battery that provides a talk time up to 7 hours and a reliable 2 megapixel camera with 1600x1200 pixels.

Barring a few minuses, one can definitely not find a better PDA at this price!!
