Navman S30 needs an upgrade

Adding to Navman’s S-series is the Navman S30 GPS with a smart and lightweight design. With basic functionalities to track the route, it caters to the entry level users. The window mount is a refreshingly new addition and is easy to clip on and off while moving the unit.

The drastic reduction of physical buttons adds to the clean look of the console. The menu is bright and colourful with clear labelling of all the options enabling easy use. The parking and fuel controls are included in the main menu itself for easy access. Also the iconic representation is a great value added benefit.

The Navman S30 is equipped with SIRF Star III receiver which enables efficient and quick operation of tracking routes in less than a minute. To reduce the number of listing to a number that is manageable, the Navman S30 also allows you to filter the suburbs by state. Destinations can be assigned by the use of house numbers, streets or cities. The console also enables navigation of multi-stop trips with utmost ease.

However, the Navman does not allow searching destinations using a postcode which is a huge disappointment. Also the battery life is fairly short and the absence of an A/C adapter means the unit can be charged only in the car or through USB causing inconvenience.

On the whole, it’s a better take if you are in search of a basic GPS device.
