Strengths: An affordable gaming device with good graphics on a wide screen

The gaming category of the Sony PSP turns out to be very affordable and has even won accolades. Right from its buttons, the Sony PSP replicates the PS2 experience on a reasonably priced gaming device. In addition to displaying PS2 graphical quality, you can play music, movies and surf web too on the Sony PSP. Appearance wise, the Sony PSP is a sleek model with user-friendly functions. A wide 4.3-inch display with effective resolution adds to your gaming experience. Flanked by keypads on either side, the PSP includes an analog "joystick" below the directional keypad. Though the analog control is not as good as the one on PS2 or Xbox, it offers a virtual joystick like feel with multidirectional element. Despite good ergonomics, with the Sony PSP you’ll need a few fingers exercises every 15 minutes to avoid cramping up.

The loading times for some games are quite long and may test your patience. Adding to the gripe is its glossy finish, most of which is black, attracts fingerprints. If you can manage with the propriety formats and removable media, the Sony PSP with web browser is a far better media device than it is a handheld console.
