Strengths: Pretty, lots of options, good wash, big front loader.
Weaknesses: Expensive, if a coin comes off in the machine you can be up for hundreds of dollars in repairs as it will not be covered by the warranty from the second occurence onwards.

It is not a cheap machine, but something very cheap has happened in the design. If you miss a single coin or a large button comes off in the wash it will jam the machine. The first time this happens it will be covered by the warranty – but they have to arrange 1 visit for a repairman to tell you it’s broken, then another visit for them to pick it up to take it away. Then you have to just wait around for them to fix it then arrange another time to have it dropped off again. So between when it breaks down and when you get it back it could be 2 weeks or more that you are without your very expensive washing machine not to mention 3 days where you will get to sit around waiting for them to turn up. AND if it should happen again, the warranty no longer covers you and you have to start paying a few hundred dollars for each repair.

Gempixie, I am looking at buying this machine (based on the Choice recommendation and my Mum has a Miele and hates it) and have been reading and speaking the Electrolux about this problem. Apparantly they have redesigned the drum in the machine and the problem was fixed after July 2007 from Serial Number 71870236. The coins are supposed to get trapped in the drain filter now. Have you had any more problems with it ??

Hi, I would like to know if this machine has a lint filter, manual or automatic. Is it the door down at ground level on the right handside front? Does not look very user friendly?? Cheers Trikecars.

No lint filter, just started having drainage issues after removing $2.65 from the pump filter! Even opened it up and detached drain hose and blew out sludge and it still doesn't want to complete a cycle. Whilst under warranty it fried it's computer and scrambled it cycles, and now after 3.5 years it doesn't want to pump and drain. My 12 year old Simpson top loader is still going, and it was half the price of this heavy, noisy piece of junk. Only advantages are - handwash cycle, and temperature control for woolens. It shakes the whole house when it spins!

I agree.
An absolute piece of junk.
We have fried the power boards and had coins removed 4+ times from the drum.
Put it this way. We have bought another smaller machine because the reliability of the electrolux is so bad we never know if it is going to be broken or not.
It is wonderful when working but honestly there are so many problems with it I would never ever ever recommend it.
