Full Review
For those who need basic assistance getting from one place to the next, the TomTom ONE GPS Navigation unit is an excellent buy. The cost of the unit is quite competitive, and you receive a lot of technology in a small, extremely portable package. To get the immediate complaints out of the way and move onto more positive aspects of the unit, the TomTom ONE has a bit of a small screen by comparison to many other GPS units. Although you don’t necessarily need an enormous display, using this unit may become a bit hairy when in areas with lots of streets that are close together. Also, when you get into an area that is not included in the updated maps on the unit, you may find that the screen will momentarily blank out entirely, trying to reconfigure. This latter problem, fortunately, can easily be solved prior to entering such an area, as the TomTom GPS system is Bluetooth enabled so it can receive signals almost anywhere, and the unit is equipped with a USB port and cable for internet connection, allowing you to download the latest information before leaving home. You’ll also be able to see real time traffic and weather conditions so that you can adjust your route to save time as needed. The TomTom ONE offers touch screen capability for ease of interface and is lightweight and small, making it extremely portable. Move it with you from one car to another, and even carry it with you by hand. The graphics are clear, considering the small screen size. The lithium ion battery is rechargeable, and you’ll find that, while the unit will literally become lost without updated information, you can download just about any map you can find to the TomTom and have a great trip. Even download additional voices and use the audible commands to get where you are going. While the TomTom ONE GPS Navigation system is not top of the line, it is literally half the price of most satellite navigation systems and is worth the price tag you’ll find on it by any means.
