Strengths: Good gaming content, sturdy console, reasonably priced with Wi-fi for multi-user facility

Weaknesses: Not very sleek-looking and has plenty of competition

The new Nintendo DS manages to knock off the fuddy-duddy image of the company now and offers some very good innovations which are core to gaming. For example, the dual screen which makes gaming a lot of fun.

The games hardly take any time to load and this does not slow down the enthusiasm of the gamer one bit. Though the entire console continues to be bulky (there is tough competition on this front with so many sleeker versions available), old time Nintendo fans are quite likely to give the DS a second glance.

The Nintendo DS offers Wi-Fi option which allows people to play with each other quite easily. Though the console does not have the good looks of other new-age players, it does feature a touch screen which is quite good and allows users to play with older versions of Game Boy games. The Nintendo Support is however, no great shakes and you might have to rely on online message boards to get issues resolved.

The one area which the Nintendo DS manages to get many user votes is on the pricing front. The console is reasonably priced for the number of features it offers…though a bit of a design facelift is quite likely to increase its prospects manifold. Another thing that users can be assured about is regular input of fresh content (or games) since there are many being developed on that front. With so many things going for the Nintendo DS, users just cannot ignore the console.
