If you’ve been looking for a very basic way to stay connected to the office or the Internet when on the go, the HP iPAQ rx4240 Pocket PC is probably the most economical solution around. Use the iPAQ anywhere there is WLAN access, including airports, coffee shops, and hotels, to receive web access, and enjoy the comfort of a unit that won’t weigh you down heavily. The HP rx4240 is a very basic unit, with a dedication to acting as a PDA and Wi-Fi access. However, there are really no other features to the unit (including a lack of bluetooth capability), so don’t expect to be excited by bells and whistles. However, the unit does look high tech, with a sleek silvery design and a brilliantly colored 2.8” touch screen. The memory capacity is quite small – a mere 64MB – but if you are simply trying to stay connected and only expect to use these features minimally, it will work for you. One of the brilliant aspects of this pocket PC is that, for those who are slow about catching onto electronics and connectivity, it is a transitional unit into more advanced PDAs and pocket PCs with more enhanced features. There are no “extras”, not even a camera to fiddle with, making the unit simple and easy to use. By starting small with a reasonably priced unit that offers the basics of managing a few files (such as calendars and reminders) and connecting to wireless Internet access, individuals can use the HP iPAQ to build their knowledge and comfort with media devices. Overall, the unit rates high as a basic due to its incredible value at a reasonable price. By any standard, the HP iPAQ rx4240 Pocket PC rates highly.
