The F50FD cannot walk the talk when it comes to quality

Strengths: Nice-looking camera with a solid body and good styling

Weaknesses: Images are usually soft due to over-reduction of noise

The F50FD from Fuji is definitely worth a look since it promises a diverse range of features for a fairly good price range. The camera is well designed as well and though some people might think that it looks a tad similar to Olympus camera; it does have some individuality to it thanks to the side curved angles etc. The Fuji FinePix F50FD is also good from the point of view that it promises significant noise reduction which is beneficial to some users.

However, the same promise of noise reduction of the Fuji FinePix F50FD turns into a nightmare when you start using the camera. The noise reduction has resulted in major softening of the image which just robs the images of sharpness and makes them look quite fudged and that is really the death knell for the FinePix F50FD. Even with automatic and manual modes, the FinePix continues to disappoint with its image quality which shows no sign of improvement after some tweaking as well.

The F50FD might look good, but fails when it comes to offering high quality images and that makes it a camera which just cannot be recommended to anyone. Though other FinePix cameras manage to give fairly good output, the F50FD is one which I would not rely on too much. The camera also has a quality issue as results on different pieces of the same brand are not consistent but that is really a minor concern as compared to the image quality issue.
