Strengths: Good GPS functions with excellent software apps. Price is very reasonable

Weaknesses: Needs to buck up big time when it comes to data processing speed

The HP iPAQ rx5765 is yet another PDA from HP which looks a lot like other PDAs offered by the HP in the rx5000 range and it is easy to get confused regarding the product offering. The rx5765 has all the plus points when it comes to the handy design and look of the PDA…however, i was continuously reminded of a GPS unit rather than a state-of-the-art PDA when I checked out the rx5765 ( don’t forget…it does have excellent GPS capabilities…but I still would have preferred a vertical screen design).

The rx5765 is a very well priced product as I discovered when comparing with other PDAs with similar functions and this is quite an attractive feature to have specially in a price-sensitive market. The in-built software applications are extremely user friendly with Windows Mobile Premium and the Tom Tom navigation software which is both well updated and easy to use. there are other smaller software applications as well such as currency conversion etc which though not very important, are still quite useful.

The rx5765 tends to be slightly slow when processing data (same problem as other iPAQ PDAs and usually a processor related issue). Other than that, the additional security feature implemented before you access the PDA is good as are the connectivity features of the PDA which give you a couple of reliable options for easier connectivity. The data of the PDA can also be easily synced with a computer and it is easy to life the rx5765 for its simple to use yet very user friendly features (not to forget the excellent price tag!).
