Strengths: Rock solid external casing, good images, and compact size

Weaknesses: Not very ergonomically friendly, flash a bit too bright

The Olympus Tough Mju 1050 is true to its name and comes equipped with some really tough features. A perfect camera for the outdoors, Olympus 1050 promises users with both water proof and shock proof abilities which is really unique. The light-colour casing gives the phone a very sleek look and the compact 1050 is actually a lot stronger than what it looks. Though image quality leaves you with no complaints, there are some placement issues in the camera which needs some getting used to.

The Mju 1050’s flash is placed very closely and that might need you to hold the camera in a specific position. What does work very well in the 1050 is the tap control which is not just another nice to have feature but one that does respond very well and quite easy to use. If you are travelling with family and need a camera which can take some really high quality shots of all the fun you have while experiencing extremely adventurous situations.

The Mju 1050’s price tag is also not the cheapest around and one can only expect buyers who really need a shock proof camera to opt for this one. If that is not your key requirement, then I would recommend the 1030 which is slightly better than this one when it comes to photographs. In fact, the 1030 is more expensive as well but stands a bit taller than 1050 in the value chain due to its quality output.
