The Canon CanoScan LiDE 70 is a scanner which can be used as a ‘temp’ scanner and this impression is conveyed by the fact that the scanner is priced at a really low price. The resolution of the scanner is decent and can be used for graphical scanning. What might worry users is that the scanner ‘feels’ quite flimsy and though the price tag is really low, it does not inspire a lot of confidence.

It might seem unfair to list disadvantages of a product which is so cheaply priced but then as a consumer, it is necessary to understand what you are getting into. The Canon CanoScan LiDE 70 is very load during the scanning process and thus is definitely not recommended in situations where you cannot tolerate high noise output. However, the noisy scanning process is not really such a big deal when you see the quality of the scans….the images are just about average and are definitely not usable in a situation where resolution is an important factor.

This scanner has been created as an entry level scanner and is likely to be picked up due to its attractive pricing. However, this scanner is not meant for keeps and users should not expect a high level of performance from it. At the most the Canon CanoScan LiDE 70 is good for scanning document for archiving purposes and is a good first scanner for kids as you are unlikely to feel the pinch if they accidentally damage it!
