Strengths: Good resolution quality

Weaknesses: Quite large in size and some users might consider the price to be on the higher side

To be very honest, I felt a bit intimidated at the size of this scanner as I checked it out at the store. Though the resolution of the scanner is what impressed me to a large extent, I kept wondering how I would accommodate it on my table which like most SOHO units was already busy with other peripherals. Anyways, I had a look at it as I really needed a reliable graphic scanner which gave me a 4800 dpi x 4800 dpi output.

The HP ScanJet 8300 had a few other positive points as well (other than the scanning resolution it offered) and one of them is the pricing. The scanner is neither expensive nor cheap…but some users might think it to be slightly on the higher side when compared with other printers available in the market place. However, I was more impressed with the range of user tools which formed a part of the entire offering.

The HP ScanJet 8300 made its way to my desk in the next couple of days and as a flatbed scanner I really had to work hard in getting the unit to fit in. though the unit worked well, I did face a couple of occasions when the software looked like it would just not work and it was a true moment of panic. However, I am sure that other scanners are not totally hassle-free and thus I am personally happy with HP ScanJet 8300 as it gets the work done!
