I Like the Panasonic TZ5!

Strengths: Good tech features, high quality images and interesting built-in tools

Weaknesses: Dial is very sensitive, not weather proof

Though I am personally not a big fan of Panasonic when it comes to digital camera, the Lumix TZ5 is definitely the one with a difference as it comes designed to take on some other digital camera heavyweights with ease. The overall technical configuration of the camera makes it quite desirable for anyone looking for a serious recreational camera and the TZ5 ensures that you don’t miss any long distance images with its 10x zoom.

There are of course some usability issues with the camera and if you are not very careful then it is quite likely that you would continue to face issues with the dial on the top of the camera which is very sensitive. Other than this, there was little I could complain about the camera. I enjoyed checking out some of the really nice inbuilt ‘intelligent’ tools like Intelligent Exposure which added loads of realism to my images.

Size is an advantage with the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 as is the black and silver finish which gives the camera a bit of a designer look. Though I would have liked the camera to have some more manual controls, I understand that it is designed to appeal to a certain age-group and demography and is meant for a fully digital camera market. It is easy to rate the Lumix TZ5 an eight on ten and I think it has really helped change my perception about Panasonic.
