Simple and easy…the Navman F20 takes the pain out of GPS units

Weaknesses: Some parts of the database is outdated and you need to strain a bit to hear the voice based navigation system

The Navman F20 is one good looking GPS unit which has a good range of features which is very well suited for the car driver. However, we were more attracted to the Navman F20 unit mostly because of its price and the pedigree of the company which has earlier on impressed us with a GPS unit which was quite a rage with users. We enjoy the initial session with the Navman F20 and decide to go ahead and buy it.

The features are quite interesting and the buttons feel very nicely rounded off (and not cheap plastic ones which some of the units have). The usability of the navigation system is quite commendable and the unit has a Gas station list which is updated depending on your location. The screens are extremely easy to understand and sometimes I get the impression that the unit was designed keeping a five year old in mind, which is just as well.

Though I did experience the much talked about voice-based guidelines, I was mildly disappointed in them as they could not be heard if there was the slightest background sound which is more likely to be there than not be there. The database does tend to get troublesome when it comes to point of interests in a place so it is best not to rely on it for tourism purposes. Other than that, the pricing and the reliability of the Navman F20 get my thumbs up.
