Strengths: Fruity tones with some very smart packaging

Weaknesses: Not a very memorable fragrance

A very recent launch, Elle by Yves Saint Laurent thrives on the fact that it is a perfume which is designed to appeal to the younger generation and has packaging to validate that fact. The bright pink and purple packaging might be a bit too obvious in that direction but it seems to work as it is quite different from the traditional packaging which is the trademark of YSL products. Elle looks interesting enough for a person to take a second look and that is when you discover that it might be a really different perfume.

With opening notes belonging to the hot tropical fruit lychee and other notes playing a balancing role in the perfume, Elle is not meant for everyone. There are some floral tones but they just manage to round off the perfume and not classify the perfume into the floral category. Simply put, the YSL fragrance is interesting and largely dependent on the individual’s taste. If you like fruity tones, then you are likely to be attracted to Elle.

Sadly, even the unique fruity tone does not make Elle stand out too much and it falls into the glut of too many perfumes being launched in recent times. Though one might not expect such a performance from YSL it does happen once in a while. As I mentioned earlier, Elle is no doubt an interesting fragrance but I would not want to go around smelling like a hot tropical fruit all day...in fact, I am quite sure it will give me a headache and I am going to take it out on my colleagues so Elle is definitely not work wear....It is best left to you to decide what it truly is!
