Strengths: Slim and nicely designed phone

Weaknesses: Average tools and though most good features are present…performance is not very great

I was quite confounded by this phone. It looked decent enough from a distance and the slide feature of the phone looked attractive enough for me to consider this phone as a mid-range phone which are usually loaded with good features and are the unsung heroes of the mobile phone industry. A few minutes after playing around with the Samsung E900….I was quite disappointed!

The overall feel of the phone is good; it’s light and easy enough to use. However, the key features like the quality of voice is a low six on a scale of one to ten and that was enough to make me skeptical of the phone. The keypad is ultra-sensitive and though you do not need to worry about locking the keypad, it still is a bother for those used to a more tactile one. There are small niggling issues with the phone such as difficulty in finding the vibrate mode of the phone or getting the right frame of picture to click. These issues tend to rate the phone a lot lower than what is probably deserves.

The music quality is quite ok with the Samsung E900 but then usage of the entertainment features might tax an already sensitive battery life which does not last too long anyways. It’s the look of the phone which is likely to attract users (as is the case with most phones) and the display of the phone is also pretty decent. However, the Samsung E900 is unlikely to move up to the upper echelons and get many techno phobic dudes interested in it.
