Small is definitely beautiful! The Canon HV10 proves it

Strengths: Excellent video and still quality images, compact size and fairly reasonably priced

Weaknesses: Microphone is placed in a not-so-obvious location and batteries run out quite fast

Don’t have enough space in your haversack to lug a fairly large handycam? No problem…help is at hand with the lovely Canon HV10 which is really compact and manages to capture some excellent video footage. It is difficult to believe that such a good combination of quality and size exists but the Canon HV10 is going to leave you very convinced about its prowess. The camera looks simple and very interesting as well.

There is no compromise when it comes to features as well. The camera has most of the standard features one would expect from a full-sized handycam and though the microphone is located in a slightly difficult to understand location but does not affect the sound quality too much. The other issue which the camera has is the short battery life. Though there is space saving in the size of the camera, you do need to carry spare batteries at all time.


Many users are also not going to miss the fact that the Canon HV10 does not come with any editing software….it is better to use the software which you are already familiar with. The Canon HV10 has really been designed for home based users and it would be foolish on our part to consider using this camera for professional purposes. The quality of the video and still manage to make up for all the other shortcomings of the camera and the price is also in a range which does not hurt the user one bit.
