I was looking for a digital camera for personal use and one which would not displace too many things from my bag (read as compact) and I short listed the Kodak EasyShare V610 as a likely purchase. The design of the product looked interesting enough and provided consumer confidence as it belonged to one of the most trusted names in the photography business. The size and the brand can be considered as the only two advantages when buying this camera.

The camera’s look dates back to the 70s with its full black frame and circular lens which reminded you of cameras from a previous decade. Though size was a positive feature of the camera, I was not too keen to be seen shooting photographs with a camera which looked like it belonged to one of my ancestors (looks like the designers felt that the ‘retro’ look which is so in would work with electronics as well. Well, now we know that this theory is not true!). the panoramic option of the camera is probably one of the only interesting option provided in the camera.

Though I should mention the image quality as soon as I start describing a camera, I thought it wiser to mention it at the end as there is very little to write about it. The camera provides just above average images, does nothing by way of adjustments to light and does not provide in-built image stabilization option which is a real major drawback in personal digital camera. There are no manual controls and though the zoom option of 10x is well fitted in such a compact camera, you do need good images to be able to truly recommend a camera. The final verdict is that you can buy the camera if you are a Kodak fan but don’t expect too much by way of quality images.
