Full Review
The Olympus MJU 1020 is the world's smallest and slimmest compact camera that comes with a 7x optical zoom. The focal length of its lenses range between 6.6mm to 46.2 mm and the maximum aperture is f/5.3 at the tele-setting and f/3.5 at the wide. It is its Dual Super Aspherical because of which such a small lens can cover such a long zoom range. Like the other recent Olympus models, the MJU 1020 also comes with the Shake proof, Night proof and Edit proof technologies. It further offers a number of advance features such as shadow adjustment, face detection and high speed shooting with flash.
The Pre-capture movie mode of the MJU 1020 begins recording just two seconds before you press the shutter and the Perfect Shot Preview enables you to preview and choose a variety of picture effects on a multi view screen before taking your shots. You will surely appreciate the in-camera panorama mode with the help of which you can manage to align the images. Moreover, it automatically takes the images before accumulating them into a single picture.
If you are keen to find any flaws in the Olympus MJU 1020, you can refer to the absence of viewfinder in it and its need to use the Olympus-branded xD card for in built panorama function. Though the 2.7” HyperCrystal LCD is also very susceptible to magnetic fingerprints, it provides a vivid and crystal clear preview even in bright sunlight. Until up to ISO 400, the MJU 1020 suffers no noise levels but it increases quite rapidly in the highest available ISO of 1600.

I bought this "on spec" a few weeks back and have been really happy with the results, after moving from the 3.2MP Olympus c760. I miss the longer zoom, but the quality of shot I am getting from the MJU1020 is amazing me, even now. For happy snappers, its fantastic, and for those wanting to do a little more, it also does the job. I find that night shots and high ISO shots are weak, with poor quality results... but I have not yet established that its the camera, rather than the user :) Working on it. Overall, an excellent little camera that goes everywhere with me, all the time. Posted by: 5-Jul-2008
