Weaknesses: Black display is not very black. Exterior looks plain

If the Acer 42 inch LCD television does not win fans based on its features, it is definitely going to convince price-sensitive buyers that it is the right TV for them. The screen size is impressive and though the black does not display as well as the Bravia or even the Viera, it is something you have to live with if you are shopping for a large LCD on a budget. The Acer At4220B does not look very sophisticated both as it has a simple black border in the front and you might need to spend a few minutes looking for the buttons as they are not all that easy to find.
Even with all the drawbacks in the looks department, the Acer 42 inch LCD tv manages to offer some high-end technical specs such as HDMI output and multiple input points which is a real blessing. There are a number of picture viewing options as well which includes PAP, PIP and POP (sounds quite amusing, doesn’t it!). The Acer 42 inch TV is good for those who like to save some valuable space in their living room and do not watch a lot of television either.
With a decently well planned remote control, the problem of difficult-to-find buttons are taken care of. The resolution of the television is also not too bad and though the brand recall of Acer is no where closer to the likes of Sony, you don’t mind buying this TV for the sheer amount of cash savings it offers. Just wish Acer would hire a designer to re-design the exterior of the television and add some pizzazz to it!
