The Canon PowerShot SX100 is no doubt a heavyweight in the area of digital photography and by this I am not just referring to the girth of the camera which is quite large. The PowerShot SX100's claim to fame is the fact that it has one of the best cameras around when it comes to manual controls and image output. With these two factors in place, there is not much else which is required to be done to make a camera popular.

With manual controls, you should be prepared to take on a bit of a headache as the camera has some not-so-simple controls which can get a bit boggling after some time. The Canon PowerShot SX 100 is not a very difficult camera to use but amateurs who are trying their hand with an SLR for the first time should stay away from the camera as their first one. I faced occasions when the camera went to take a photograph when I was attempting another operation all together and that can be a bit bugging.

The PowerShot SX100 continues to give users an excellent option for photos and it also has image stabilization software which is helpful in enhancing the image quality. With a resolution of 8 megapixel, the SX100 is quite good for general photography but may not suit the requirements for high-end professional photographs but fits in very well with most hobbyists.
