The worst refrigerator I've ever owned. Continual problems with fans that stop working and spoil everything contained in the fridge. Refrigerator fan first broke down when a few months out of warranty. Not long after the same thing happened to the freezer. Had to dispose of hundeds of $$ of food.

Yeah I agree
Have a FP E442B fridge, had 2 controller boards replaced!

I rang FP customer support after I replaced the controller board for the second time ($106 exchange), to ask if it is REALLY necessary to replace the top fan, as in the box the controller came in it said if you have the old fan (shows pix, and mine is apparently)
$69 is FP spare parts price for a new fan!!!!!!!! A computer fan is around $5-10 as a comparison ...same voltage etc!
Can get on Ebay for $44 which is still dear butt looking around.

BTW the fridge now works fine but concerned the original fan may fail and take out the board again!

After DISCUSSING this with a young LADY in FP spare parts, who told me basically the buck stops with her when I said 'can I be put thru to a manager or engineering, as you must have a database on faults and necessary replacements'. She said a FP 'technician' needs to go and look at before we can give you any idea!!
I said I am a electronics technician with a electrical license and do not require assistance like that (Why would I do my own repairs!!??)
She hung up on me!!!

Have a FP Eco washing machine as well and the controller board been replace on that as well.

You cannot get technical info off them and they repair their own products so you are locked in. Buy Westinghouse or Electrolux company products which have replaceable interchangeable parts and easy to get and service easy!

DON'T EVER BUY A FISHER PAYKEL PRODUCT....SPREAD THE WORD!

I have an E402BRE refrigerator. How do you get to the fan to replace it. Mine also broke just after warranty - pretty poor from F&P's side.

I have an E442BR refrigerator. I have owned it for five years and in that time have had to call technicians 8 times. I have not had a trouble free 6 months with it and have lost countless $$'s in spoiled food. It has now irreparably broken down and the technician stated to me that it was probably bad form the word go. F and P are supposedly offering me a pro rata replacement which means after 5 years I have to buy half of a new fridge. This is now at a cost of $400 per year. I have had less trouble with second hand $100 fridge, NEVER BUY ONE. The drawers in the fridge also break easily and are not built to withstand the weight of 3 litre containers of juice or milk.

I agree. Our door shelf has cracked under the weight of 3 litre milk + 2 litre soft drink containers - which are exactly the right SIZE to put on this shelf, but it is under produced from insufficiently dense, thin, and unreinforced plastic that is not up to the task. I'm finding it hard to find replacements. Two places on the internet show them, but give no address or phone number anywhere on their sight - internet sales only..... NO WAY am I giving my money to someone whom I have no ability to contact if they do the wrong thing or choose to ignore me.
