Strengths: Good size at an even better pricing

Weaknesses: Average performance, purple snakes, text display are warped

The 42 inch Panasonic Viera screen is probably one of the best value buys which you can get at this price. Thanks to digital HD display technology, the Panasonic Viera TH 42PX7A captures some really good moments making you feel safe about the fact of having bought a fairly good television. Though resolution tops at 1024 x 768 you might feel the lack of a 16:9 ratio with this television but that is something which is present in many higher-priced plasmas as well.

Panasonic 42 incher manages to look quite good with its sleek exterior and a some what simplistic frame. Some users have also complained about the purple snaky lines which tend to make their way into the 42inch television but that issue has already been reported in not just this one but other lower powered plasma televisions as well so can be considered as a generic problem really. If this bothers you a lot, then you can opt for the Panasonic 50 inch plasma as that does not have this problem.

Everything said and done, there is still a lack of finesse with this television and is apparent when you try to watch text on a black background….this should be considered as a litmus test really and the TH42PX7A fails miserably on this front. Not only does the text look warped, it results in serious misgivings on having chosen this Panasonic model. My suggestion would be check out other brands as well and not get caught up with the issues that make the Panasonic TH42PX7A a very average display unit.
