Strengths: Excellent sized screen with very well developed software and maps information

The ASUS A636 MyPal is a formidable name for the first Pocket PC with GPS to be used in the United States. The handheld device focuses on providing GPS features to users and does not focus on PDA features. it has all the makings of a good GPS device thanks to the fact that it is fairly large and readable by everyone and has a high quality GPS software which is well updated and will not end up in dead ends or in the wrong alley.

However, there are issues with the general look of the device which looks quite homegrown and of the garden variety. This is the only drawback on the system as everything else required by the user is taken care of especially when it comes to the connectivity factors. The Windows Mobile 5.0 takes away the teething issues which a user might experience with a totally new interface and Bluetooth and Wi-fi connectivity powers up the ASUS A636 to meet most situations.

The packaging is also well planned and you can find the car charger along with the regular charging equipment included in the price of the product. Thus the price of USD 600 or thereabouts leads to many takers for this device. Three cheers for the team of ASUS who have managed to create an excellent product in a very niche and difficult product group.
