Strengths: Is good at making your PC virus-free

Weaknesses: Takes up a lot of hard disk space, limited user license, hidden costs in services

Like most internet users you must already be familiar with the problems relating to viruses and the best way to combat this is to have the latest anti-virus in place. At least that is what I thought worked till I started installing antiviruses and discovered that they come with their own problems which never seem to end. With some trepidation, I opted for latest from Norton, the 2008 version of their antivirus and part of my understanding was right.

However, the basic problems of the most antiviruses surface when you begin using this Symantec product. One of major issues with the 2008 version is the fact that the package size of the software is very high…it takes forever to download and needs a good deal of storage as well. Other than that, the Norton Antivirus 2008 cannot be installed easily should you uninstall it by mistake. This is a real pain and a major reason to check out other softwares.

The performance of the software however, is really good. It took a few minutes to detect viruses on my PC and I can vouch for the fact that the performance of my machine went up to a good level. End of the day, the decision of buying an antivirus is based on word-of-mouth and the Norton Antivirus 2008 is one which does manage to give you the desired results but not without hiccups. My recommendations? The hiccups are well worth it…if it can help keep your PC virus free.
